ਹੇ ਲੋਭਾ ਲੰਪਟ ਸੰਗ ਸਿਰਮੋਰਹ ਅਨਿਕ ਲਹਰੀ ਕਲੋਲਤੇ ॥

ਹੇ ਲੋਭਾ ਲੰਪਟ ਸੰਗ ਸਿਰਮੋਰਹ ਅਨਿਕ ਲਹਰੀ ਕਲੋਲਤੇ ॥

hē lōbhā lampaṭ saṅg sirmōrah anik lahrī kalōltē ॥

हे लोभा लंपट संग सिरमोरह अनिक लहरी कलोलते ॥

O greed, you cling to even the great, assaulting them with countless waves.

ਧਾਵੰਤ ਜੀਆ ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੰ ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਡੋਲਤੇ ॥

dhāvant jīā bahu prakāraṃ anik bhānti bahu ḍōltē ॥

धावंत जीआ बहु प्रकारं अनिक भांति बहु डोलते ॥

You cause them to run around wildly in all directions, wobbling and wavering unsteadily.

ਨਚ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੰ ਨਚ ਇਸਟੰ ਨਚ ਬਾਧਵ ਨਚ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਤਵ ਲਜਯਾ ॥

nac mitraṃ nac isṭaṃ nac bādhav nac māt pitā tav lajyā ॥

नच मित्रं नच इसटं नच बाधव नच मात पिता तव लजया ॥

You have no respect for friends, ideals, relations, mother or father.

ਅਕਰਣੰ ਕਰੋਤਿ ਅਖਾਦ੍ਹਿ ਖਾਦ੍ਹੰ ਅਸਾਜ੍ਹੰ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਮਜਯਾ ॥

akraṇaṃ karōti akhādhi khādhaṃ asājhaṃ sāji samjayā ॥

अकरणं करोति अखाद्हि खाद्हं असाज्हं साजि समजया ॥

You make them do what they should not do. You make them eat what they should not eat. You make them accomplish what they should not accomplish.

ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਬਿਗ੍ਹਾਪਿੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਰਹਰਹ ॥੪੮॥

trāhi trāhi sarṇi suāmī bighāpō nānak hari narharah ॥48॥

त्राहि त्राहि सरणि सुआमी बिग्हापिो नानक हरि नरहरह ॥४८॥

Save me, save me - I have come to Your Sanctuary, O my Lord and Master; Nanak prays to the Lord. ||48||
