ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਜੁਰੈ ਤ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਮੀਤੁ ॥

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਜੁਰੈ ਤ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਮੀਤੁ ॥

hari siu jurai ta sabhu kō mītu ॥

हरि सिउ जुरै त सभु को मीतु ॥

When someone attaches himself to the Lord, then everyone is his friend.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਜੁਰੈ ਤ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਚੀਤੁ ॥

hari siu jurai ta nihchalu chītu ॥

हरि सिउ जुरै त निहचलु चीतु ॥

When someone attaches himself to the Lord, then his consciousness is steady.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਜੁਰੈ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਕਾੜ੍‍ਾ ॥

hari siu jurai na viāpai kāṛā ॥

हरि सिउ जुरै न विआपै काड़्‍ा ॥

When someone attaches himself to the Lord, he is not afflicted by worries.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਜੁਰੈ ਤ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੧॥

hari siu jurai ta hōi nisatārā ॥1॥

हरि सिउ जुरै त होइ निसतारा ॥१॥

When someone attaches himself to the Lord, he is emancipated. ||1||

ਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ???ੋਰੁ ॥

rē man mērē tūṃ hari siu jōru ॥

रे मन मेरे तूं हरि सिउ जोरु ॥

O my mind, unite yourself with the Lord.

ਕਾਜਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਹੋਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

kāji tuhārai nāhī hōru ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

काजि तुहारै नाही होरु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Nothing else is of any use to you. ||1||Pause||

ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਜੋ ਦੁਨੀਆਦਾਰ ॥

vaḍē vaḍē jō dunīādār ॥

वडे वडे जो दुनीआदार ॥

The great and powerful people of the world

ਕਾਹੂ ਕਾਜਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥

kāhū kāji nāhī gāvār ॥

काहू काजि नाही गावार ॥

Are of no use, you fool!

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਨੀਚ ਕੁਲੁ ਸੁਣਹਿ ॥

hari kā dāsu nīch kulu suṇhi ॥

हरि का दासु नीच कुलु सुणहि ॥

The Lord's slave may be born of humble origins,

ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਉਧਰਹਿ ॥੨॥

tis kai saṅgi khin mahi udhrahi ॥2॥

तिस कै संगि खिन महि उधरहि ॥२॥

But in his company, you shall be saved in an instant. ||2||

ਕੋਟਿ ਮਜਨ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੁਣਿ ਨਾਮ ॥

kōṭi majan jā kai suṇi nām ॥

कोटि मजन जा कै सुणि नाम ॥

Hearing the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is equal to millions of cleansing baths.

ਕੋਟਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹੈ ਧਿਆਨ ॥

kōṭi pūjā jā kai hai dhiān ॥

कोटि पूजा जा कै है धिआन ॥

Meditating on it is equal to millions of worship ceremonies.

ਕੋਟਿ ਪੁੰਨ ਸੁਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

kōṭi punn suṇi hari kī bāṇī ॥

कोटि पुंन सुणि हरि की बाणी ॥

Hearing the Word of the Lord's Bani is equal to giving millions in alms.

ਕੋਟਿ ਫਲਾ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੀ ॥੩॥

kōṭi phalā gur tē bidhi jāṇī ॥3॥

कोटि फला गुर ते बिधि जाणी ॥३॥

To know the way, through the Guru, is equal to millions of rewards. ||3||

ਮਨ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਮਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਚੇਤ ॥

man apunē mahi phiri phiri chēt ॥

मन अपुने महि फिरि फिरि चेत ॥

Within your mind, over and over again, think of Him,

ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਹੇਤ ॥

binsi jāhi māiā kē hēt ॥

बिनसि जाहि माइआ के हेत ॥

And your love of Maya shall depart.

ਹਰਿ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਤੁਮਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥

hari abināsī tumrai saṅgi ॥

हरि अबिनासी तुमरै संगि ॥

The Imperishable Lord is always with you.

ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਚੁ ਰਾਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੪॥

man mērē rachu rām kai raṅgi ॥4॥

मन मेरे रचु राम कै रंगि ॥४॥

O my mind, immerse yourself in the Love of the Lord. ||4||

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਉਤਰੈ ਸਭ ਭੂਖ ॥

jā kai kāmi utrai sabh bhūkh ॥

जा कै कामि उतरै सभ भूख ॥

Working for Him, all hunger departs.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਜੋਹਹਿ ਦੂਤ ॥

jā kai kāmi na jōhhi dūt ॥

जा कै कामि न जोहहि दूत ॥

Working for Him, the Messenger of Death will not be watching you.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਵਡ ਗਮਰੁ ॥

jā kai kāmi tērā vaḍ gamru ॥

जा कै कामि तेरा वड गमरु ॥

Working for Him, you shall obtain glorious greatness.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕਾਮਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤੂੰ ਅਮਰੁ ॥੫॥

jā kai kāmi hōvahi tūṃ amru ॥5॥

जा कै कामि होवहि तूं अमरु ॥५॥

Working for Him, you shall become immortal. ||5||

ਜਾ ਕੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਕਉ ਨਹੀ ਡਾਨ ॥

jā kē chākar kau nahī ḍān ॥

जा के चाकर कउ नही डान ॥

His servant does not suffer punishment.

ਜਾ ਕੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਕਉ ਨਹੀ ਬਾਨ ॥

jā kē chākar kau nahī bān ॥

जा के चाकर कउ नही बान ॥

His servant suffers no loss.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਦਫਤਰਿ ਪੁਛੈ ਨ ਲੇਖਾ ॥

jā kai daphtari puchhai na lēkhā ॥

जा कै दफतरि पुछै न लेखा ॥

In His Court, His servant does not have to answer for his account.

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਿਸੇਖਾ ॥੬॥

tā kī chākrī karahu bisēkhā ॥6॥

ता की चाकरी करहु बिसेखा ॥६॥

So serve Him with distinction. ||6||

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਊਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਾਹੂ ਬਾਤ ॥

jā kai ūn nāhī kāhū bāt ॥

जा कै ऊन नाही काहू बात ॥

He is not lacking in anything.

ਏਕਹਿ ਆਪਿ ਅਨੇਕਹਿ ਭਾਤਿ ॥

ēkahi āpi anēkahi bhāti ॥

एकहि आपि अनेकहि भाति ॥

He Himself is One, although He appears in so many forms.

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥

jā kī drisṭi hōi sadā nihāl ॥

जा की द्रिसटि होइ सदा निहाल ॥

By His Glance of Grace, you shall be happy forever.

ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਘਾਲ ॥੭॥

man mērē kari tā kī ghāl ॥7॥

मन मेरे करि ता की घाल ॥७॥

So work for Him, O my mind. ||7||

ਨਾ ਕੋ ਚਤੁਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਮੂੜਾ ॥

nā kō chaturu nāhī kō mūṛā ॥

ना को चतुरु नाही को मूड़ा ॥

No one is clever, and no one is foolish.

ਨਾ ਕੋ ਹੀਣੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਸੂਰਾ ॥

nā kō hīṇu nāhī kō sūrā ॥

ना को हीणु नाही को सूरा ॥

No one is weak, and no one is a hero.

ਜਿਤੁ ਕੋ ਲਾਇਆ ਤਿਤ ਹੀ ਲਾਗਾ ॥

jitu kō lāiā tit hī lāgā ॥

जितु को लाइआ तित ही लागा ॥

As the Lord attaches someone, so is he attached.

ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਗਾ ॥੮॥੬॥

sō sēvku nānak jisu bhāgā ॥8॥6॥

सो सेवकु नानक जिसु भागा ॥८॥६॥

He alone is the Lord's servant, O Nanak, who is so blessed. ||8||6||
