ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਅਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

धनासरी महला ३ ॥

Dhanaasaree, Third Mehl:

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਅਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥

hari nāmu dhanu nirmalu ati apārā ॥

हरि नामु धनु निरमलु अति अपारा ॥

The wealth of the Lord's Name is immaculate, and absolutely infinite.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥

gur kai sabdi bharē bhaṇḍārā ॥

गुर कै सबदि भरे भंडारा ॥

The Word of the Guru's Shabad is over-flowing with treasure.

ਨਾਮ ਧਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਹੋਰ ਸਭ ਬਿਖੁ ਜਾਣੁ ॥

nām dhan binu hōr sabh bikhu jāṇu ॥

नाम धन बिनु होर सभ बिखु जाणु ॥

Know that, except for the wealth of the Name, all other wealth is poison.

ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਜਲੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥੧॥

māiā mōhi jalai abhimānu ॥1॥

माइआ मोहि जलै अभिमानु ॥१॥

The egotistical people are burning in their attachment to Maya. ||1||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖੈ ਕੋਇ ॥

gurmukhi hari rasu chākhai kōi ॥

गुरमुखि हरि रसु चाखै कोइ ॥

How rare is that Gurmukh who tastes the sublime essence of the Lord.

ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

tisu sadā anndu hōvai dinu rātī pūrai bhāgi parāpti hōi ॥ rahāu ॥

तिसु सदा अनंदु होवै दिनु राती पूरै भागि परापति होइ ॥ रहाउ ॥

He is always in bliss, day and night; through perfect good destiny, he obtains the Name. ||Pause||

ਸਬਦੁ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਇ ॥

sabdu dīpku vartai tihu lōi ॥

सबदु दीपकु वरतै तिहु लोइ ॥

The Word of the Shabad is a lamp, illuminating the three worlds.

ਜੋ ਚਾਖੈ ਸੋ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

jō chākhai sō nirmalu hōi ॥

जो चाखै सो निरमलु होइ ॥

One who tastes it, becomes immaculate.

ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਇ ॥

nirmal nāmi haumai malu dhōi ॥

निरमल नामि हउमै मलु धोइ ॥

The immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord, washes off the filth of ego.

ਸਾਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥

sāchī bhagti sadā sukhu hōi ॥2॥

साची भगति सदा सुखु होइ ॥२॥

True devotional worship brings lasting peace. ||2||

ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਲੋਗੁ ॥

jini hari rasu chākhiā sō hari janu lōgu ॥

जिनि हरि रसु चाखिआ सो हरि जनु लोगु ॥

One who tastes the sublime essence of the Lord is the Lord's humble servant.

ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਦੇ ਸੋਗੁ ॥

tisu sadā harkhu nāhī kadē sōgu ॥

तिसु सदा हरखु नाही कदे सोगु ॥

He is forever happy; he is never sad.

ਆਪਿ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਅਵਰਾ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥

āpi muktu avarā muktu karāvai ॥

आपि मुकतु अवरा मुकतु करावै ॥

He himself is liberated, and he liberates others as well.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਹਰਿ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥

hari nāmu japai hari tē sukhu pāvai ॥3॥

हरि नामु जपै हरि ते सुखु पावै ॥३॥

He chants the Lord's Name, and through the Lord, he finds peace. ||3||

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਭ ਮੁਈ ਬਿਲਲਾਇ ॥

binu satigur sabh muī billāi ॥

बिनु सतिगुर सभ मुई बिललाइ ॥

Without the True Guru, everyone dies, crying out in pain.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਦਾਝਹਿ ਸਾਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥

andinu dājhhi sāti na pāi ॥

अनदिनु दाझहि साति न पाइ ॥

Night and day, they burn, and find no peace.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਭੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥

satiguru milai sabhu trisan bujhāē ॥

सतिगुरु मिलै सभु त्रिसन बुझाए ॥

But meeting the True Guru, all thirst is quenched.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੨॥

nānak nāmi sānti sukhu pāē ॥4॥2॥

नानक नामि सांति सुखु पाए ॥४॥२॥

O Nanak, through the Naam, one finds peace and tranquility. ||4||2||
