Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, all doubts are dispelled.

ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈ ਊਤਮ ਧਰਮਾ ॥

hari kō nāmu lai ūtam dharmā ॥

हरि को नामु लै ऊतम धरमा ॥

Chanting the Name of the Lord is the highest religion.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਜਾਤਿ ਕੁਲ ਹਰੀ ॥

hari hari karat jāti kul harī ॥

हरि हरि करत जाति कुल हरी ॥

Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, erases social classes and ancestral pedigrees.

ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਕੀ ਲਾਕਰੀ ॥੧॥

sō hari andhulē kī lākrī ॥1॥

सो हरि अंधुले की लाकरी ॥१॥

The Lord is the walking stick of the blind. ||1||

ਹਰਏ ਨਮਸਤੇ ਹਰਏ ਨਮਹ ॥

haraē namsatē haraē namah ॥

हरए नमसते हरए नमह ॥

I bow to the Lord, I humbly bow to the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਨਹੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਮਹ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

hari hari karat nahī dukhu jamah ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

हरि हरि करत नही दुखु जमह ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, you will not be tormented by the Messenger of Death. ||1||Pause||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਨਾਖਸ ਹਰੇ ਪਰਾਨ ॥

hari harnākhas harē parān ॥

हरि हरनाखस हरे परान ॥

The Lord took the life of Harnaakhash,

ਅਜੈਮਲ ਕੀਓ ਬੈਕੁੰਠਹਿ ਥਾਨ ॥

ajaimal kīō baikuṇṭhhi thān ॥

अजैमल कीओ बैकुंठहि थान ॥

And gave Ajaamal a place in heaven.

ਸੂਆ ਪੜਾਵਤ ਗਨਿਕਾ ਤਰੀ ॥

sūā paṛāvat ganikā tarī ॥

सूआ पड़ावत गनिका तरी ॥

Teaching a parrot to speak the Lord's Name, Ganika the prostitute was saved.

ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਨੈਨਹੁ ਕੀ ਪੂਤਰੀ ॥੨॥

sō hari nainhu kī pūtrī ॥2॥

सो हरि नैनहु की पूतरी ॥२॥

That Lord is the light of my eyes. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਪੂਤਨਾ ਤਰੀ ॥

hari hari karat pūtnā tarī ॥

हरि हरि करत पूतना तरी ॥

Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Pootna was saved,

ਬਾਲ ਘਾਤਨੀ ਕਪਟਹਿ ਭਰੀ ॥

bāl ghātnī kapṭahi bharī ॥

बाल घातनी कपटहि भरी ॥

Even though she was a deceitful child-killer.

ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਦ ਸੁਤ ਉਧਰੀ ॥

simran drōpad sut udhrī ॥

सिमरन द्रोपद सुत उधरी ॥

Contemplating the Lord, Dropadi was saved.

ਗਊਤਮ ਸਤੀ ਸਿਲਾ ਨਿਸਤਰੀ ॥੩॥

gaūtam satī silā nistarī ॥3॥

गऊतम सती सिला निसतरी ॥३॥

Gautam's wife, turned to stone, was saved. ||3||

ਕੇਸੀ ਕੰਸ ਮਥਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ॥

kēsī kaṃs mathnu jini kīā ॥

केसी कंस मथनु जिनि कीआ ॥

The Lord, who killed Kaysee and Kans,

ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨੁ ਕਾਲੀ ਕਉ ਦੀਆ ॥

jīa dānu kālī kau dīā ॥

जीअ दानु काली कउ दीआ ॥

Gave the gift of life to Kali.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਨਾਮਾ ਐਸੋ ਹਰੀ ॥

praṇvai nāmā aisō harī ॥

प्रणवै नामा ऐसो हरी ॥

Prays Naam Dayv, such is my Lord;

ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਭੈ ਅਪਦਾ ਟਰੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੫॥

jāsu japat bhai apdā ṭarī ॥4॥1॥5॥

जासु जपत भै अपदा टरी ॥४॥१॥५॥

Meditating on Him, fear and suffering are dispelled. ||4||1||5||
