ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖਫਲੁ ਖਾਵਣਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਮਕਰਿ ਅਉਚਰ ਚਰਣਾ॥

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖਫਲੁ ਖਾਵਣਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਮਕਰਿ ਅਉਚਰ ਚਰਣਾ॥

gurmukhi sukhphalu khāvṇā dukhu sukhu samkari auchar charṇā॥

गुरमुखि सुखफलु खावणा दुखु सुखु समकरि अउचर चरणा॥

Adopting pleasure and pain equally, the gurmukhs eat the fruit of delight.

ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖੀ ਦਾ ਗਾਵਣਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਿਝਰੁ ਝਰਣਾ॥

gur sikhī dā gāvṇā ammrit bāṇī nijhru jharṇā॥

गुर सिखी दा गावणा अंम्रित बाणी निझरु झरणा॥

Music in the Sikh way of life is the continuous flow (singing) of ambrosial hymns of the Guru.

ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖੀ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਪਿਰਮ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਅਜਰੁ ਜਰਣਾ॥

gur sikhī dhīrju dharmu piram piālā ajru jarṇā॥

गुर सिखी धीरजु धरमु पिरम पिआला अजरु जरणा॥

Fortitude and duty in Sikh life is the bearing of the unbearable power of the cup of love.

ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖੀ ਦਾ ਸੰਜਮੋ ਡਰਿ ਨਿਡਰੁ ਨਿਡਰ ਮੁਚ ਡਰਣਾ॥

gur sikhī dā sañjmō ḍari niḍru niḍar muc ḍarṇā॥

गुर सिखी दा संजमो डरि निडरु निडर मुच डरणा॥

The practice of continence in Sikhism is getting fearless in this scaring world and moving always in the fear of the Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜਗੁ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਰਣਾ॥

gur sikhī mili sādhsaṅgi shabad surti jagu dutru tarṇā॥

गुर सिखी मिलि साधसंगि शबद सुरति जगु दुतरु तरणा॥

Another doctrine of the Sikh life is that joining the holy congregation and concentrating the mind in the word, man goes across the world ocean.

ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖੀ ਦਾ ਕਰਮ ਏਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਫੁਰਮਾਏ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਕਰਣਾ॥

gur sikhī dā karam ēhu gur phurmāē gursikh karṇā॥

गुर सिखी दा करम एहु गुर फुरमाए गुरसिख करणा॥

Acting according the instructions of the Guru is the performance of the Sikh life.

ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਰਣਾ ॥੧੦॥

gur kirpā guru sikhu guru sarṇā ॥10॥

गुर किरपा गुरु सिखु गुरु सरणा ॥१०॥

By the grace of the Guru, the disciple (Sikh) remains in the shelter of the Guru.
