ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਪੰਥ ਅਗੰਮ ਹੈ ਜਿਉਂ ਜਲ ਅਮਦਰ ਮੀਨ ਚਲੰਦਾ॥

ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਪੰਥ ਅਗੰਮ ਹੈ ਜਿਉਂ ਜਲ ਅਮਦਰ ਮੀਨ ਚਲੰਦਾ॥

gurmukh panth agamm hai jiuṃ jal amdar mīn chalndā॥

गुरमुख पंथ अगंम है जिउं जल अमदर मीन चलंदा॥

As the path of fish in water is unknowable, the way of gurmukhs is also unapproachable.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਖੋਜ ਅਲਖ ਹੈ ਜਿਉਂ ਪੰਖੀ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਉਡੰਦਾ॥

gurmukh khōj alakh hai jiuṃ paṅkhī ākāsh uḍndā॥

गुरमुख खोज अलख है जिउं पंखी आकाश उडंदा॥

As the path of birds flying in the sky cannot be known, the thoughtful and search-orientated way of gurmukh is also imperceptible. It cannot be understood.

ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਰਹਿਰਾਸ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਚੰਦਉਰੀ ਨਗਰ ਵਸੰਦਾ॥

sādh saṅgti rahirās hai hari chandaurī nagar vasndā॥

साध संगति रहिरास है हरि चंदउरी नगर वसंदा॥

Holy congregation is the straight path for gurmukhs and this world is full of illusions for them.

ਚਾਰ ਵਰਨ ਤੰਬੋਲ ਰਸ ਪਿਰਮ ਪਿਆਲੈ ਰੰਗ ਚੜੰਦਾ॥

chār varan tambōl ras piram piālai raṅg chaṛndā॥

चार वरन तंबोल रस पिरम पिआलै रंग चड़ंदा॥

As the four colours of betel catechu, betelnut, lime and betel lead become one (red) colour (of joy-giving love), the gurmukhs also enjoy the cup of the Lord's love.

ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਲਿਵਲੀਨ ਹੋਇ ਚੰਦਨਵਾਸ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰੰਦਾ॥

shabad surti livlīn hōi chandanvās nivās karandā॥

शबद सुरति लिवलीन होइ चंदनवास निवास करंदा॥

As the fragrance of sandal comes to reside in other plants, they merging their consciousness into Word reside in the hearts of others.

ਗਯਾਨ ਧਿਯਾਨ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਕੂੰਜ ਕੁਕਰਮ ਹੰਸਵੰਸ ਵਧੰਦਾ॥

gayān dhiyān simran jugti kūñj kukaram haṃsvaṃs vadhndā॥

गयान धियान सिमरन जुगति कूंज कुकरम हंसवंस वधंदा॥

By means of knowledge, meditation and remembrance, they like cranes, tortoise and swans expand their family or tradition.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸੁਖਫਲ ਅਲਖ ਲਖੰਦਾ ॥੧੩॥

gurmukh sukhphal alakh lakhndā ॥13॥

गुरमुख सुखफल अलख लखंदा ॥१३॥

The gurmukhs come face to face with God, the pleasure of all fruits.
