ਗੁਰਸਿਖੀ ਬਾਰੀਕ ਹੈ ਸਿਲ ਚਟਨ ਫਿੱਕੀ॥

ਗੁਰਸਿਖੀ ਬਾਰੀਕ ਹੈ ਸਿਲ ਚਟਨ ਫਿੱਕੀ॥

gursikhī bārīk hai sil chaṭan phikkī॥

गुरसिखी बारीक है सिल चटन फिॱकी॥

To be disciple of the Guru is very subtle activity and it is like licking of the tasteless stone.

ਤ੍ਰਿਖੀ ਖੰਡੇ ਧਾਰ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਵਾਲਹੁੰ ਨਿਕੀ॥

trikhī khaṇḍē dhār hai uh vālhuṃ nikī॥

त्रिखी खंडे धार है उह वालहुं निकी॥

It is thinner than the hair and sharper than the edge of the sword.

ਭੂਤ ਭਵਿਖਤ ਵਰਤਮਾਨ ਸਰਿ ਮਿਕਣ ਮਿਕੀ॥

bhūt bhavikhat varatmān sari mikaṇ mikī॥

भूत भविखत वरतमान सरि मिकण मिकी॥

Nothing is equal to it in present, past and future.

ਦੁਤੀਆ ਨਾਸਤ ਏਤ ਘਰ ਹੋਇ ਇਕਾ ਇਕੀ॥

dutīā nāsat ēt ghar hōi ikā ikī॥

दुतीआ नासत एत घर होइ इका इकी॥

In the house of Sikhism, the duality gets erased and one becomes one with that One.

ਦੂਆ ਤੀਆ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਸਣ ਕਕਾ ਕਿਕੀ॥

dūā tīā vīsrai saṇ kakā kikī॥

दूआ तीआ वीसरै सण कका किकी॥

Man forgets the idea of second, third, when and why.

ਸਭੈ ਸਿਕਾਂ ਪਰਹਰੈ ਸੁਖ ਇਕਤੁ ਸਿਕੀ ॥੨॥

sabhai sikāṃ parharai sukh iktu sikī ॥2॥

सभै सिकां परहरै सुख इकतु सिकी ॥२॥

Repudiating all the desires, the individual gets delight in the hope of one Lord.
