ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰੁ ਪੂਜੀਐ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਲਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥

Sriraag, Fifth Mehl:

ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰੁ ਪੂਜੀਐ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਲਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥

guru parmēsuru pūjīai mani tani lāi piāru ॥

गुरु परमेसुरु पूजीऐ मनि तनि लाइ पिआरु ॥

Worship the Guru, the Transcendent Lord, with your mind and body attuned to love.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਸਭਸੈ ਦੇਇ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥

satiguru dātā jīa kā sabhsai dēi adhāru ॥

सतिगुरु दाता जीअ का सभसै देइ अधारु ॥

The True Guru is the Giver of the soul; He gives Support to all.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਚਨ ਕਮਾਵਣੇ ਸਚਾ ਏਹੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

satigur bachan kamāvṇē sachā ēhu vīchāru ॥

सतिगुर बचन कमावणे सचा एहु वीचारु ॥

Act according to the Instructions of the True Guru; this is the true philosophy.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਰਤਿਆ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੧॥

binu sādhū saṅgti ratiā māiā mōhu sabhu chhāru ॥1॥

बिनु साधू संगति रतिआ माइआ मोहु सभु छारु ॥१॥

Without being attuned to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, all attachment to Maya is just dust. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥

mērē sājan hari hari nāmu samāli ॥

मेरे साजन हरि हरि नामु समालि ॥

O my friend, reflect upon the Name of the Lord, Har, Har

ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਘਾਲ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

sādhū saṅgti mani vasai pūran hōvai ghāl ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

साधू संगति मनि वसै पूरन होवै घाल ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

. In the Saadh Sangat, He dwells within the mind, and one's works are brought to perfect fruition. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

guru samrathu apāru guru vaḍbhāgī darsanu hōi ॥

गुरु समरथु अपारु गुरु वडभागी दरसनु होइ ॥

The Guru is All-powerful, the Guru is Infinite. By great good fortune, the Blessed Vision of His Darshan is obtained.

ਗੁਰੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਗੁਰ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

guru agōcru nirmalā gur jēvḍu avru na kōi ॥

गुरु अगोचरु निरमला गुर जेवडु अवरु न कोइ ॥

The Guru is Imperceptible, Immaculate and Pure. There is no other as great as the Guru.

ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੀ ਸੋਇ ॥

guru karatā guru karṇahāru gurmukhi sachī sōi ॥

गुरु करता गुरु करणहारु गुरमुखि सची सोइ ॥

The Guru is the Creator, the Guru is the Doer. The Gurmukh obtains true glory.

ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਕੀਤਾ ਲੋੜੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥

gur tē bāhri kichhu nahī guru kītā lōṛē su hōi ॥2॥

गुर ते बाहरि किछु नही गुरु कीता लोड़े सु होइ ॥२॥

Nothing is beyond the Guru; whatever He wishes comes to pass. ||2||

ਗੁਰੁ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਜਾਤੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥

guru tīrthu guru pārjātu guru mansā pūrṇahāru ॥

गुरु तीरथु गुरु पारजातु गुरु मनसा पूरणहारु ॥

The Guru is the Sacred Shrine of Pilgrimage, the Guru is the Wish-fulfilling Elysian Tree.

ਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਇ ਉਧਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥

guru dātā hari nāmu dēi udhrai sabhu saṃsāru ॥

गुरु दाता हरि नामु देइ उधरै सभु संसारु ॥

The Guru is the Fulfiller of the desires of the mind. The Guru is the Giver of the Name of the Lord, by which all the world is saved.

ਗੁਰੁ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥

guru samrathu guru nirṅkāru guru ūchhā agam apāru ॥

गुरु समरथु गुरु निरंकारु गुरु ऊचा अगम अपारु ॥

The Guru is All-powerful, the Guru is Formless; the Guru is Lofty, Inaccessible and Infinite.

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਅਗਮ ਹੈ ਕਿਆ ਕਥੇ ਕਥਨਹਾਰੁ ॥੩॥

gur kī mahimā agam hai kiā kathē kathnahāru ॥3॥

गुर की महिमा अगम है किआ कथे कथनहारु ॥३॥

The Praise of the Guru is so sublime-what can any speaker say? ||3||

ਜਿਤੜੇ ਫਲ ਮਨਿ ਬਾਛੀਅਹਿ ਤਿਤੜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥

jitṛē phal mani bāchhīhi titṛē satigur pāsi ॥

जितड़े फल मनि बाछीअहि तितड़े सतिगुर पासि ॥

All the rewards which the mind desires are with the True Guru.

ਪੂਰਬ ਲਿਖੇ ਪਾਵਣੇ ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇ ਰਾਸਿ ॥

pūrab likhē pāvṇē sāchu nāmu dē rāsi ॥

पूरब लिखे पावणे साचु नामु दे रासि ॥

One whose destiny is so pre-ordained, obtains the Wealth of the True Name.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣੀ ਆਇਆਂ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਨਾਸੁ ॥

satigur sarṇī āiāṃ bāhuṛi nahī bināsu ॥

सतिगुर सरणी आइआं बाहुड़ि नही बिनासु ॥

Entering the Sanctuary of the True Guru, you shall never die again.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਸਰਉ ਏਹੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਸੁ ॥੪॥੨੯॥੯੯॥

hari nānak kadē na visrau ēhu jīu piṇḍu tērā sāsu ॥4॥29॥99॥

हरि नानक कदे न विसरउ एहु जीउ पिंडु तेरा सासु ॥४॥२९॥९९॥

Nanak: may I never forget You, Lord. This soul, body and breath are Yours. ||4||29||99||
