ਗੰਗਾ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਗੋਦਾਵਰੀ ਸਰਸੁਤੀ ਤੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਦਮੁ ਧੂਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਤਾਈ ॥

Malaar, Fourth Mehl:

ਗੰਗਾ ਜਮੁਨਾ ਗੋਦਾਵਰੀ ਸਰਸੁਤੀ ਤੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਦਮੁ ਧੂਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਤਾਈ ॥

gaṅgā jamunā gōdāvrī sarsutī tē karahi udmu dhūri sādhū kī tāī ॥

गंगा जमुना गोदावरी सरसुती ते करहि उदमु धूरि साधू की ताई ॥

The Ganges, the Jamunaa, the Godaavari and the Saraswati - these rivers strive for the dust of the feet of the Holy.

ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਮੈਲੁ ਭਰੇ ਪਰੇ ਹਮਰੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਮਰੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੧॥

kilvikh mailu bharē parē hamrai vichi hamrī mailu sādhū kī dhūri gavāī ॥1॥

किलविख मैलु भरे परे हमरै विचि हमरी मैलु साधू की धूरि गवाई ॥१॥

Overflowing with their filthy sins, the mortals take cleansing baths in them; the rivers' pollution is washed away by the dust of the feet of the Holy. ||1||

ਤੀਰਥਿ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਮਜਨੁ ਨਾਈ ॥

tīrthi aṭhsaṭhi majnu nāī ॥

तीरथि अठसठि मजनु नाई ॥

Instead of bathing at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage, take your cleansing bath in the Name.

ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਪਰੀ ਉਡਿ ਨੇਤ੍ਰੀ ਸਭ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਗਵਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

satsaṅgti kī dhūri parī uḍi nētrī sabh durmati mailu gavāī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

सतसंगति की धूरि परी उडि नेत्री सभ दुरमति मैलु गवाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

When the dust of the feet of the Sat Sangat rises up into the eyes, all filthy evil-mindedness is removed. ||1||Pause||

ਜਾਹਰਨਵੀ ਤਪੈ ਭਾਗੀਰਥਿ ਆਣੀ ਕੇਦਾਰੁ ਥਾਪਿਓ ਮਹਸਾਈ ॥

jāhranvī tapai bhāgīrthi āṇī kēdāru thāpiō mahsāī ॥

जाहरनवी तपै भागीरथि आणी केदारु थापिओ महसाई ॥

Bhaageerat'h the penitent brought the Ganges down, and Shiva established Kaydaar.

ਕਾਂਸੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨੁ ਚਰਾਵਤ ਗਾਊ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ॥੨॥

kāṃsī krisnu charāvat gāū mili hari jan sōbhā pāī ॥2॥

कांसी क्रिसनु चरावत गाऊ मिलि हरि जन सोभा पाई ॥२॥

Krishna grazed cows in Kaashi; through the humble servant of the Lord, these places became famous. ||2||

ਜਿਤਨੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਦੇਵੀ ਥਾਪੇ ਸਭਿ ਤਿਤਨੇ ਲੋਚਹਿ ਧੂਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਤਾਈ ॥

jitnē tīrath dēvī thāpē sabhi titnē lōchhi dhūri sādhū kī tāī ॥

जितने तीरथ देवी थापे सभि तितने लोचहि धूरि साधू की ताई ॥

And all the sacred shrines of pilgrimage established by the gods, long for the dust of the feet of the Holy.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਧੂ ਲੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈ ॥੩॥

hari kā santu milai gur sādhū lai tis kī dhūri mukhi lāī ॥3॥

हरि का संतु मिलै गुर साधू लै तिस की धूरि मुखि लाई ॥३॥

Meeting with the Lord's Saint, the Holy Guru, I apply the dust of His feet to my face. ||3||

ਜਿਤਨੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਭ ਤਿਤਨੀ ਲੋਚੈ ਧੂਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੀ ਤਾਈ ॥

jitnī srisṭi tumrī mērē suāmī sabh titnī lōchai dhūri sādhū kī tāī ॥

जितनी स्रिसटि तुमरी मेरे सुआमी सभ तितनी लोचै धूरि साधू की ताई ॥

And all the creatures of Your Universe, O my Lord and Master, long for the dust of the feet of the Holy.

ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਲਾਟਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਧੂਰਿ ਦੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਲੰਘਾਈ ॥੪॥੨॥

nānak lilāṭi hōvai jisu likhiā tisu sādhū dhūri dē hari pāri laṅghāī ॥4॥2॥

नानक लिलाटि होवै जिसु लिखिआ तिसु साधू धूरि दे हरि पारि लंघाई ॥४॥२॥

O Nanak, one who has such destiny inscribed on his forehead, is blessed with the dust of the feet of the Holy; the Lord carries him across. ||4||2||
