ਗਜ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਮੀਨ ਪਤੰਗ ਅਲਿ ਇਕਤ ਇਕਤ ਰੋਗ ਪਚੰਦੇ॥

gaj mrig mīn pataṅg ali ikat ikat rōg pacndē॥

गज म्रिग मीन पतंग अलि इकत इकत रोग पचंदे॥

Elephant, deer, fish, moth and black bee have one disease each, namely, attraction for lust, sound, enjoyment, beautiful appearance and fragrance respectively, and they are consumed by them.

ਮਾਨਸ ਦੇਹੀ ਪੰਚ ਰੋਗ ਪੰਜੇ ਦੂਤ ਕਸੂਤ ਕਰੰਦੇ॥

mānas dēhī pañc rōg pañjē dūt kasūt karandē॥

मानस देही पंच रोग पंजे दूत कसूत करंदे॥

But the man has all the five ailments and these five always create turbulences in his life.

ਆਸਾ ਮਣਸਾ ਡਾਇਣੀ ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਬਹੁ ਰੋਗ ਵਧੰਦੇ॥

āsā maṇsā ḍāiṇī harakh sōg bahu rōg vadhndē॥

आसा मणसा डाइणी हरख सोग बहु रोग वधंदे॥

The witches in the form of hope and desires and the happiness and sorrows further aggravate the diseases.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਲਗ ਭੰਭਲ ਭੂਸੇ ਖਾਇ ਭਵੰਦੇ॥

manmukh dūjai bhāi lag bhambhal bhūsē khāi bhavndē॥

मनमुख दूजै भाइ लग भंभल भूसे खाइ भवंदे॥

Controlled by dualism, the deluded manmukh runs here and there.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਗਾਡੀ ਰਾਹ ਚਲੰਦੇ॥

satigur sachā pātshāh gurmukh gāḍī rāh chalndē॥

सतिगुर सचा पातशाह गुरमुख गाडी राह चलंदे॥

The true Guru is the true king and the gurmukhs move on the highway pointed out by Him.

ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਮਿਲ ਚਲਣਾ ਭਜ ਗਏ ਠਗ ਚੋਰ ਡਰੰਦੇ॥

sādh saṅgat mil chalṇā bhaj gaē ṭhag chōr ḍarndē॥

साध संगत मिल चलणा भज गए ठग चोर डरंदे॥

Moving along with and in the holy congregation, the theives and cheats in the form of lust for materials run away.

ਲੈ ਲਾਹਾ ਨਿਜ ਘਰ ਨਿਬਹੰਦੇ ॥੨੦॥
