ਗੋਇਲਿ ਆਇਆ ਗੋਇਲੀ ਕਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਡੰਫੁ ਪਸਾਰੁ ॥

Sriraag, Fifth Mehl, Second House:

ਗੋਇਲਿ ਆਇਆ ਗੋਇਲੀ ਕਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਡੰਫੁ ਪਸਾਰੁ ॥

gōili āiā gōilī kiā tisu ḍamphu pasāru ॥

गोइलि आइआ गोइली किआ तिसु डंफु पसारु ॥

The herdsman comes to the pasture lands-what good are his ostentatious displays here?

ਮੁਹਲਤਿ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਚਲਣਾ ਤੂੰ ਸੰਮਲੁ ਘਰ ਬਾਰੁ ॥੧॥

muhlati punnī chalṇā tūṃ sammlu ghar bāru ॥1॥

मुहलति पुंनी चलणा तूं संमलु घर बारु ॥१॥

When your allotted time is up, you must go. Take care of your real hearth and home. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ਮਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥

hari guṇ gāu manā satiguru sēvi piāri ॥

हरि गुण गाउ मना सतिगुरु सेवि पिआरि ॥

O mind, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and serve the True Guru with love.

ਕਿਆ ਥੋੜੜੀ ਬਾਤ ਗੁਮਾਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

kiā thōṛṛī bāt gumānu ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

किआ थोड़ड़ी बात गुमानु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Why do you take pride in trivial matters? ||1||Pause||

ਜੈਸੇ ਰੈਣਿ ਪਰਾਹੁਣੇ ਉਠਿ ਚਲਸਹਿ ਪਰਭਾਤਿ ॥

jaisē raiṇi parāhuṇē uṭhi chalsahi parbhāti ॥

जैसे रैणि पराहुणे उठि चलसहि परभाति ॥

Like an overnight guest, you shall arise and depart in the morning.

ਕਿਆ ਤੂੰ ਰਤਾ ਗਿਰਸਤ ਸਿਉ ਸਭ ਫੁਲਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਗਾਤਿ ॥੨॥

kiā tūṃ ratā girsat siu sabh phulā kī bāgāti ॥2॥

किआ तूं रता गिरसत सिउ सभ फुला की बागाति ॥२॥

Why are you so attached to your household? It is all like flowers in the garden. ||2||

ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਿਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਆ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲੋੜਿ ॥

mērī mērī kiā karahi jini dīā sō prabhu lōṛi ॥

मेरी मेरी किआ करहि जिनि दीआ सो प्रभु लोड़ि ॥

Why do you say, ""Mine, mine""? Look to God, who has given it to you.

ਸਰਪਰ ਉਠੀ ਚਲਣਾ ਛਡਿ ਜਾਸੀ ਲਖ ਕਰੋੜਿ ॥੩॥

sarpar uṭhī chalṇā chhaḍi jāsī lakh karōṛi ॥3॥

सरपर उठी चलणा छडि जासी लख करोड़ि ॥३॥

It is certain that you must arise and depart, and leave behind your hundreds of thousands and millions. ||3||

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਭ੍ਰਮਤਿਆ ਦੁਲਭ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਾਇਓਇ ॥

lakh chaurāsīh bhramtiā dulabh janmu pāiōi ॥

लख चउरासीह भ्रमतिआ दुलभ जनमु पाइओइ ॥

Through 8.4 million incarnations you have wandered, to obtain this rare and precious human life.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਤੂੰ ਸੋ ਦਿਨੁ ਨੇੜਾ ਆਇਓਇ ॥੪॥੨੨॥੯੨॥

nānak nāmu samāli tūṃ sō dinu nēṛā āiōi ॥4॥22॥92॥

नानक नामु समालि तूं सो दिनु नेड़ा आइओइ ॥४॥२२॥९२॥

O Nanak, remember the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the day of departure is drawing near! ||4||22||92||
