ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

आसा महला ५ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥

gōbindu guṇī nidhānu gurmukhi jāṇīai ॥

गोबिंदु गुणी निधानु गुरमुखि जाणीऐ ॥

The Lord of the Universe is the treasure of excellence; He is known only to the Gurmukh.

ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੀਐ ॥੧॥

hōi kripālu daiālu hari raṅgu māṇīai ॥1॥

होइ क्रिपालु दइआलु हरि रंगु माणीऐ ॥१॥

When He shows His Mercy and Kindness, we revel in the Lord's Love. ||1||

ਆਵਹੁ ਸੰਤ ਮਿਲਾਹ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ ॥

āvhu sant milāh hari kathā kahāṇīā ॥

आवहु संत मिलाह हरि कथा कहाणीआ ॥

Come, O Saints - let us join together and speak the Sermon of the Lord.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਜਿ ਲਾਜ ਲੋਕਾਣੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

andinu simrah nāmu taji lāj lōkāṇīā ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

अनदिनु सिमरह नामु तजि लाज लोकाणीआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Night and day, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and ignore the criticism of others. ||1||Pause||

ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਅਨਦੁ ਘਣਾ ॥

japi japi jīvā nāmu hōvai andu ghaṇā ॥

जपि जपि जीवा नामु होवै अनदु घणा ॥

I live by chanting and meditating on the Naam, and so I obtain immense bliss.

ਮਿਥਿਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਝੂਠਾ ਵਿਣਸਣਾ ॥੨॥

mithiā mōhu saṃsāru jhūṭhā viṇsaṇā ॥2॥

मिथिआ मोहु संसारु झूठा विणसणा ॥२॥

Attachment to the world is useless and vain; it is false, and perishes in the end. ||2||

ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਨੇਹੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥

charaṇ kamal saṅgi nēhu kinai virlai lāiā ॥

चरण कमल संगि नेहु किनै विरलै लाइआ ॥

How rare are those who embrace love for the Lord's Lotus Feet.

ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ਮੁਖੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੩॥

dhannu suhāvā mukhu jini hari dhiāiā ॥3॥

धंनु सुहावा मुखु जिनि हरि धिआइआ ॥३॥

Blessed and beautiful is that mouth, which meditates on the Lord. ||3||

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖ ਕਾਲ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਵਈ ॥

janam maraṇ dukh kāl simrat miṭi jāvaī ॥

जनम मरण दुख काल सिमरत मिटि जावई ॥

The pains of birth, death and reincarnation are erased by meditating on the Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਸੋਇ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵਈ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੧੧੩॥

nānak kai sukhu sōi jō prabh bhāvaī ॥4॥11॥113॥

नानक कै सुखु सोइ जो प्रभ भावई ॥४॥११॥११३॥

That alone is Nanak's joy, which is pleasing to God. ||4||11||113||
