ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਚਰਨਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥

सारंग महला ४ ॥

Saarang, Fourth Mehl:

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਚਰਨਨ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥

gōbind charnan kau balihārī ॥

गोबिंद चरनन कउ बलिहारी ॥

I am a sacrifice to the Feet of the Lord of the Universe.

ਭਵਜਲੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਤਰਣਾ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

bhavjalu jagtu na jāī tarṇā japi hari hari pāri utārī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

भवजलु जगतु न जाई तरणा जपि हरि हरि पारि उतारी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

I cannot swim across the terrifying world ocean. But chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, I am carried across across. ||1||Pause||

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤਿ ਬਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ॥

hirdai pratīti banī prabh kērī sēvā surti bīchārī ॥

हिरदै प्रतीति बनी प्रभ केरी सेवा सुरति बीचारी ॥

Faith in God came to fill my heart; I serve Him intuitively, and contemplate Him.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਗੁਣਕਾਰੀ ॥੧॥

andinu rām nāmu japi hirdai sarab kalā guṇkārī ॥1॥

अनदिनु राम नामु जपि हिरदै सरब कला गुणकारी ॥१॥

Night and day, I chant the Lord's Name within my heart; it is all-powerful and virtuous. ||1||

ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਰਵਿਆ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਠਾਈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰੀ ॥

prabhu agam agōcru raviā srab ṭhāī mani tani alakh apārī ॥

प्रभु अगम अगोचरु रविआ स्रब ठाई मनि तनि अलख अपारी ॥

God is Inaccessible and Unfathomable, All-pervading everywhere, in all minds and bodies; He is Infinite and Invisible.

ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਭਏ ਤਬ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਰੀ ॥੨॥

gur kirpāl bhaē tab pāiā hirdai alkhu lakhārī ॥2॥

गुर किरपाल भए तब पाइआ हिरदै अलखु लखारी ॥२॥

When the Guru bebomes merciful, then the Unseen Lord is seen within the heart. ||2||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਰਬ ਧਰਣੀਧਰ ਸਾਕਤ ਕਉ ਦੂਰਿ ਭਇਆ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥

antri hari nāmu sarab dharṇīdhar sākat kau dūri bhaiā ahaṅkārī ॥

अंतरि हरि नामु सरब धरणीधर साकत कउ दूरि भइआ अहंकारी ॥

Deep within the inner being is the Name of the Lord, the Support of the entire earth, but to the egotistical shaakta, the faithless cynic, He seems far away.

ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਲਤ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਜੂਐ ਬਾਜੀ ਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥

trisnā jalat na kabahū būjhhi jūai bājī hārī ॥3॥

त्रिसना जलत न कबहू बूझहि जूऐ बाजी हारी ॥३॥

His burning desire is never quenched, and he loses the game of life in the gamble. ||3||

ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਿੰਚਤ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥

ūṭhat baiṭhat hari gun gāvahi guri kiñchat kirpā dhārī ॥

ऊठत बैठत हरि गुन गावहि गुरि किंचत किरपा धारी ॥

Standing up and sitting down, the mortal sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, when the Guru bestows even a tiny bit of His Grace.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਭਈ ਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੨॥

nānak jin kau nadri bhaī hai tin kī paij savārī ॥4॥2॥

नानक जिन कउ नदरि भई है तिन की पैज सवारी ॥४॥२॥

O Nanak, those who are blessed by His Glance of Grace - He saves and protects their honor. ||4||2||
