Third Mehl:

ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਭਰਪੂਰੁ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਸਾਦੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

ghar hī mahi ammritu bharpūru hai manmukhā sādu na pāiā ॥

घर ही महि अंम्रितु भरपूरु है मनमुखा सादु न पाइआ ॥

The home within is filled with Ambrosial Nectar, but the self-willed manmukh does not get to taste it.

ਜਿਉ ਕਸਤੂਰੀ ਮਿਰਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਭ੍ਰਮਦਾ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ॥

jiu kastūrī mirgu na jāṇai bhramdā bharmi bhulāiā ॥

जिउ कसतूरी मिरगु न जाणै भ्रमदा भरमि भुलाइआ ॥

He is like the deer, who does not recognize its own musk-scent; it wanders around, deluded by doubt.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤਜਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹੈ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਖੁਆਇਆ ॥

ammritu taji bikhu saṅgrhai kartai āpi khuāiā ॥

अंम्रितु तजि बिखु संग्रहै करतै आपि खुआइआ ॥

The manmukh forsakes the Ambrosial Nectar, and instead gathers poison; the Creator Himself has fooled him.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਈ ਤਿਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥

gurmukhi virlē sōjhī paī tinā andri brahmu dikhāiā ॥

गुरमुखि विरले सोझी पई तिना अंदरि ब्रहमु दिखाइआ ॥

How rare are the Gurmukhs, who obtain this understanding; they behold the Lord God within themselves.

ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਾਦੁ ਆਇਆ ॥

tanu manu sītlu hōiā rasnā hari sādu āiā ॥

तनु मनु सीतलु होइआ रसना हरि सादु आइआ ॥

Their minds and bodies are cooled and soothed, and their tongues enjoy the sublime taste of the Lord.

ਸਬਦੇ ਹੀ ਨਾਉ ਊਪਜੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥

sabdē hī nāu ūpjai sabdē mēli milāiā ॥

सबदे ही नाउ ऊपजै सबदे मेलि मिलाइआ ॥

Through the Word of the Shabad, the Name wells up; through the Shabad, we are united in the Lord's Union.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਬਉਰਾਨਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥

binu sabdai sabhu jagu baurānā birthā janmu gavāiā ॥

बिनु सबदै सभु जगु बउराना बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ ॥

Without the Shabad, the whole world is insane, and it loses its life in vain.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਏਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥

ammritu ēkō sabdu hai nānak gurmukhi pāiā ॥2॥

अंम्रितु एको सबदु है नानक गुरमुखि पाइआ ॥२॥

The Shabad alone is Ambrosial Nectar; O Nanak, the Gurmukhs obtain it. ||2||
