ਏਕ ਜੋਤਿ ਏਕਾ ਮਿਲੀ ਕਿੰਬਾ ਹੋਇ ਮਹੋਇ ॥

ēk jōti ēkā milī kimbā hōi mahōi ॥

एक जोति एका मिली किंबा होइ महोइ ॥

When one light merges into another, what becomes of it then?

ਜਿਤੁ ਘਟਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਊਪਜੈ ਫੂਟਿ ਮਰੈ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥

jitu ghaṭi nāmu na ūpjai phūṭi marai janu sōi ॥1॥

जितु घटि नामु न ऊपजै फूटि मरै जनु सोइ ॥१॥

That person, within whose heart the Lord's Name does not well up - may that person burst and die! ||1||

ਸਾਵਲ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਰਾਮਈਆ ॥

sāval sundar rāmīā ॥

सावल सुंदर रामईआ ॥

O my dark and beautiful Lord,

ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਾ ਤੋਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

mērā manu lāgā tōhi ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

मेरा मनु लागा तोहि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

My mind is attached to You. ||1||Pause||

ਸਾਧੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਿਧਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਿ ਏਹੁ ਜੋਗੁ ਕਿ ਭੋਗੁ ॥

sādhu milai sidhi pāīai ki ēhu jōgu ki bhōgu ॥

साधु मिलै सिधि पाईऐ कि एहु जोगु कि भोगु ॥

Meeting with the Holy, the perfection of the Siddhas is obtained. What good is Yoga or indulgence in pleasures?

ਦੁਹੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ॥੨॥

duhu mili kārju ūpjai rām nām sañjōgu ॥2॥

दुहु मिलि कारजु ऊपजै राम नाम संजोगु ॥२॥

When the two meet together, the business is conducted, and the link with the Lord's Name is established. ||2||

ਲੋਗੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਇਹੁ ਗੀਤੁ ਹੈ ਇਹੁ ਤਉ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥

lōgu jānai ihu gītu hai ihu tau braham bīchār ॥

लोगु जानै इहु गीतु है इहु तउ ब्रहम बीचार ॥

People believe that this is just a song, but it is a meditation on God.

ਜਿਉ ਕਾਸੀ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਮਾਨਸ ਮਰਤੀ ਬਾਰ ॥੩॥

jiu kāsī updēsu hōi mānas martī bār ॥3॥

जिउ कासी उपदेसु होइ मानस मरती बार ॥३॥

It is like the instructions given to the dying man at Benares. ||3||

ਕੋਈ ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਸੁਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥

kōī gāvai kō suṇai hari nāmā chitu lāi ॥

कोई गावै को सुणै हरि नामा चितु लाइ ॥

Whoever sings or listens to the Lord's Name with conscious awareness

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੰਸਾ ਨਹੀ ਅੰਤਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੧॥੪॥੫੫॥

kahu kabīr saṃsā nahī anti param gati pāi ॥4॥1॥4॥55॥

कहु कबीर संसा नही अंति परम गति पाइ ॥४॥१॥४॥५५॥

- says Kabeer, without a doubt, in the end, he obtains the highest status. ||4||1||4||55||
