ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

ਡਰਪੈ ਧਰਤਿ ਅਕਾਸੁ ਨਖ੍ਹਤ੍ਰਾ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਅਮਰੁ ਕਰਾਰਾ ॥

ḍarpai dharti akāsu nakhhtrā sir ūpri amru karārā ॥

डरपै धरति अकासु नख्हत्रा सिर ऊपरि अमरु करारा ॥

The earth, the Akaashic ethers and the stars abide in the Fear of God. The almighty Order of the Lord is over the heads of all.

ਪਉਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਡਰਪੈ ਡਰਪੈ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੁ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੧॥

pauṇu pāṇī baisntaru ḍarpai ḍarpai indru bichārā ॥1॥

पउणु पाणी बैसंतरु डरपै डरपै इंद्रु बिचारा ॥१॥

Wind, water and fire abide in the Fear of God; poor Indra abides in the Fear of God as well. ||1||

ਏਕਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨੀ ॥

ēkā nirbhau bāt sunī ॥

एका निरभउ बात सुनी ॥

I have heard one thing, that the One Lord alone is fearless.

ਸੋ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਸੋ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਗਾਇ ਗੁਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

sō sukhīā sō sadā suhēlā jō gur mili gāi gunī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

सो सुखीआ सो सदा सुहेला जो गुर मिलि गाइ गुनी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

He alone is at peace, and he alone is embellished forever, who meets with the Guru, and sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਦੇਹਧਾਰ ਅਰੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਡਰਪਹਿ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਡਰਿ ਮੁਇਆ ॥

dēhdhār aru dēvā ḍarpahi sidh sādhik ḍari muiā ॥

देहधार अरु देवा डरपहि सिध साधिक डरि मुइआ ॥

The embodied and the divine beings abide in the Fear of God. The Siddhas and seekers die in the Fear of God.

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਜੋਇਆ ॥੨॥

lakh chaurāsīh mari mari janmē phiri phiri jōnī jōiā ॥2॥

लख चउरासीह मरि मरि जनमे फिरि फिरि जोनी जोइआ ॥२॥

The 8.4 millions species of beings die, and die again, and are born over and over again. They are consigned to reincarnation. ||2||

ਰਾਜਸੁ ਸਾਤਕੁ ਤਾਮਸੁ ਡਰਪਹਿ ਕੇਤੇ ਰੂਪ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥

rājsu sātku tāmsu ḍarpahi kētē rūp upāiā ॥

राजसु सातकु तामसु डरपहि केते रूप उपाइआ ॥

Those who embody the energies of sattva-white light, raajas-red passion, and taamas-black darkness, abide in the Fear of God, along with the many created forms.

ਛਲ ਬਪੁਰੀ ਇਹ ਕਉਲਾ ਡਰਪੈ ਅਤਿ ਡਰਪੈ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇਆ ॥੩॥

chhal bapurī ih kaulā ḍarpai ati ḍarpai dharam rāiā ॥3॥

छल बपुरी इह कउला डरपै अति डरपै धरम राइआ ॥३॥

This miserable deceiver Maya abides in the Fear of God; the Righteous Judge of Dharma is utterly afraid of Him as well. ||3||

ਸਗਲ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਡਰਹਿ ਬਿਆਪੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਡਰ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰਾ ॥

sagal samgrī ḍarhi biāpī binu ḍar karṇaihārā ॥

सगल समग्री डरहि बिआपी बिनु डर करणैहारा ॥

The entire expanse of the Universe is in the Fear of God; only the Creator Lord is without this Fear.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਨ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੀ ਭਗਤ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥

kahu nānak bhagtan kā saṅgī bhagat sōhhi darbārā ॥4॥1॥

कहु नानक भगतन का संगी भगत सोहहि दरबारा ॥४॥१॥

Says Nanak, God is the companion of His devotees; His devotees look beautiful in the Court of the Lord. ||4||1||
