बसंतु महला ५

Basant, Fifth Mehl:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ik-ōṅkār satigur prasādi ॥

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਦੇਖੁ ਫੂਲ ਫੂਲ ਫੂਲੇ ॥

dēkhu phūl phūl phūlē ॥

देखु फूल फूल फूले ॥

Behold the flowers flowering, and the blossoms blossoming forth!

ਅਹੰ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਤਿਆਗੇ ॥

ahaṃ tiāgi tiāgē ॥

अहं तिआगि तिआगे ॥

Renounce and abandon your egotism.

ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਪਾਗੇ ॥

charan kamal pāgē ॥

चरन कमल पागे ॥

Grasp hold of His Lotus Feet.

ਤੁਮ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਭਾਗੇ ॥

tum milhu prabh sabhāgē ॥

तुम मिलहु प्रभ सभागे ॥

Meet with God, O blessed one.

ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

hari chēti man mērē ॥ rahāu ॥

हरि चेति मन मेरे ॥ रहाउ ॥

O my mind, remain conscious of the Lord. ||Pause||

ਸਘਨ ਬਾਸੁ ਕੂਲੇ ॥

saghan bāsu kūlē ॥

सघन बासु कूले ॥

The tender young plants smell so good,

ਇਕਿ ਰਹੇ ਸੂਕਿ ਕਠੂਲੇ ॥

iki rahē sūki kaṭhūlē ॥

इकि रहे सूकि कठूले ॥

While others remain like dry wood.

ਬਸੰਤ ਰੁਤਿ ਆਈ ॥

basant ruti āī ॥

बसंत रुति आई ॥

The season of spring has come;

ਪਰਫੂਲਤਾ ਰਹੇ ॥੧॥

parphūltā rahē ॥1॥

परफूलता रहे ॥१॥

It blossoms forth luxuriantly. ||1||

ਅਬ ਕਲੂ ਆਇਓ ਰੇ ॥

ab kalū āiō rē ॥

अब कलू आइओ रे ॥

Now, the Dark Age of Kali Yuga has come.

ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੋਵਹੁ ਬੋਵਹੁ ॥

iku nāmu bōvhu bōvhu ॥

इकु नामु बोवहु बोवहु ॥

Plant the Naam, the Name of the One Lord.

ਅਨ ਰੂਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

an rūti nāhī nāhī ॥

अन रूति नाही नाही ॥

It is not the season to plant other seeds.

ਮਤੁ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲਹੁ ਭੂਲਹੁ ॥

matu bharmi bhūlhu bhūlhu ॥

मतु भरमि भूलहु भूलहु ॥

Do not wander lost in doubt and delusion.

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਏ ॥ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹੈ ਲੇਖਾ ॥

gur milē hari pāē ॥ jisu masatki hai lēkhā ॥

गुर मिले हरि पाए ॥ जिसु मसतकि है लेखा ॥

One who has such destiny written on his forehead, shall meet with the Guru and find the Lord.

ਮਨ ਰੁਤਿ ਨਾਮ ਰੇ ॥

man ruti nām rē ॥

मन रुति नाम रे ॥

O mortal, this is the season of the Naam.

ਗੁਨ ਕਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰੇ ॥੨॥੧੮॥

gun kahē nānak hari harē hari harē ॥2॥18॥

गुन कहे नानक हरि हरे हरि हरे ॥२॥१८॥

Nanak utters the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har. ||2||18||
