ਚੌਰਾਸੀਹ ਲੱਖ ਜੋਨ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਤਮ ਜਨਮ ਸੁ ਮਾਣਸ ਦੇਹੀ॥

ਚੌਰਾਸੀਹ ਲੱਖ ਜੋਨ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਤਮ ਜਨਮ ਸੁ ਮਾਣਸ ਦੇਹੀ॥

chaurāsīh lakkh jōn vic uttam janam su māṇas dēhī॥

चौरासीह लॱख जोन विच उॱतम जनम सु माणस देही॥

Of the eighty four lacs life classes, birth as a human is the best.

ਅਖੀ ਵੇਖਨ ਕਰਨ ਸੁਨਣ ਮੁਖ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਬੋਲਨ ਬਚਨ ਸਨੇਹੀ॥

akhī vēkhan karan sunaṇ mukh shubh bōlan bachan sanēhī॥

अखी वेखन करन सुनण मुख शुभ बोलन बचन सनेही॥

Eyes behold, ears listen to and the mouth speaks sweet words.

ਹਥੀਂ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਨੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਚਲ ਸਤਿਸੰਗ ਮਿਲੇਹੀ॥

hathīṃ kār kamāvnī pairī chal satisaṅg milēhī॥

हथीं कार कमावनी पैरी चल सतिसंग मिलेही॥

Hands earn livelihood and feet take towards the holy congregation.

ਕਿਰਤ ਵਿਰਤ ਕਰ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਖੱਟ ਖਵਾਲਨ ਕਾਰ ਕਰੇਹੀ॥

kirat virat kar dharam dī khaṭṭ khavālan kār karēhī॥

किरत विरत कर धरम दी खॱट खवालन कार करेही॥

In human life alone by the rightful earning, out of one's savings, other needy ones

ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਜਨਮ ਸਕਾਰਥਾ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਸਮਝ ਸਨੇਹੀ॥

gurmukh janam sakārthā gurbāṇī paṛh samajh sanēhī॥

गुरमुख जनम सकारथा गुरबाणी पड़्ह समझ सनेही॥

Are fed.

ਗੁਰ ਭਾਈ ਸੰਤੁਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਚਰਨਾਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਲੈ ਮੁਖ ਪਿਵੇਹੀ॥

gur bhāī santushaṭ kar charnāmrit lai mukh pivēhī॥

गुर भाई संतुशट कर चरनाम्रित लै मुख पिवेही॥

Man by becoming gurmukh- Guru oriented, makes his life meaningful; he reads Gurbani and makes others understand (the importance of) bani. He satisfies his companions and takes the holy water touched by their feet i.e. he inculcates complete humility.

ਪੈਰੀ ਪਵਨ ਨ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਕਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਰਹਿਰਾਸ ਕਰੇਹੀ॥

pairī pavan na chhōḍīai kalī kāl rahirās karēhī॥

पैरी पवन न छोडीऐ कली काल रहिरास करेही॥

Humblytouching of the feet should not be repudiated because in the dark age, this quality is the only asset (of the human personality).

ਆਪ ਤਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖ ਤਰੇਹੀ ॥੩॥

āp tarē gur sikh tarēhī ॥3॥

आप तरे गुर सिख तरेही ॥३॥

People of such a conduct will swim the world-ocean and also get along other disciples of the Guru.
