ਚੰਦ ਚਕੋਰ ਪਰੀਤ ਹੈ ਲਾਇ ਤਾਰ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ॥

ਚੰਦ ਚਕੋਰ ਪਰੀਤ ਹੈ ਲਾਇ ਤਾਰ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ॥

chand chakōr parīt hai lāi tār nihālē॥

चंद चकोर परीत है लाइ तार निहाले॥

Red-legged partridge (chakor) loves moon and hence stares at it without even losing its glance.

ਚਕਵੀ ਸੂਰਜ ਹੇਤ ਹੈ ਮਿਲਿ ਹੋਨਿ ਸੁਖਾਲੇ॥

chakvī sūraj hēt hai mili hōni sukhālē॥

चकवी सूरज हेत है मिलि होनि सुखाले॥

Ruddy sheldrake (chakavi) loves sun, and in sunlight, meeting its beloved feels elated.

ਨੇਹੁ ਕਵਲ ਜਲ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਖਿੜਿ ਮੁਹ ਵੇਖਾਲੇ॥

nēhu kaval jal jāṇīai khiṛi muh vēkhālē॥

नेहु कवल जल जाणीऐ खिड़ि मुह वेखाले॥

Lotus loves water and shows the water its blossomed face.

ਮੋਰ ਬਬੀਹੇ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਵੇਖਿ ਬਦਲ ਕਾਲੇ॥

mōr babīhē bōldē piāru vēkhi badal kālē॥

मोर बबीहे बोलदे पिआरु वेखि बदल काले॥

Rain birds and peacocks also shriek when they see the clouds.

ਨਾਰਿ ਭਤਾਰ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਹੈ ਮਾਂ ਪੁਤ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਲੇ॥

nāri bhatār piāru hai māṃ put samhālē॥

नारि भतार पिआरु है मां पुत सम्हाले॥

Wife loves her husband and mother takes care of the son.

ਪੀਰ ਮੁਰੀਦਾਂ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਓਹੁ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਨਾਲੇ ॥੪॥

pīr murīdāṃ pirhaṛī ōhu nibhai nālē ॥4॥

पीर मुरीदां पिरहड़ी ओहु निबहै नाले ॥४॥

Similarly the Sikh loves Guru and this love accompanies him to the end.
