ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

ਚੇਤਨਾ ਹੈ ਤਉ ਚੇਤ ਲੈ ਨਿਸਿ ਦਿਨਿ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ॥

chētnā hai tau chēt lai nisi dini mai prānī ॥

चेतना है तउ चेत लै निसि दिनि मै प्रानी ॥

If you are conscious, then be conscious of Him night and day, O mortal.

ਛਿਨੁ ਛਿਨੁ ਅਉਧ ਬਿਹਾਤੁ ਹੈ ਫੂਟੈ ਘਟ ਜਿਉ ਪਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

chhinu chhinu audh bihātu hai phūṭai ghaṭ jiu pānī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

छिनु छिनु अउध बिहातु है फूटै घट जिउ पानी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Each and every moment, your life is passing away, like water from a cracked pitcher. ||1||Pause||

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਕਾਹਿ ਨ ਗਾਵਹੀ ਮੂਰਖ ਅਗਿਆਨਾ ॥

hari gun kāhi na gāvahī mūrakh agiānā ॥

हरि गुन काहि न गावही मूरख अगिआना ॥

Why do you not sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, you ignorant fool?

ਝੂਠੈ ਲਾਲਚਿ ਲਾਗਿ ਕੈ ਨਹਿ ਮਰਨੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੧॥

jhūṭhai lālchi lāgi kai nahi marnu pachhānā ॥1॥

झूठै लालचि लागि कै नहि मरनु पछाना ॥१॥

You are attached to false greed, and you do not even consider death. ||1||

ਅਜਹੂ ਕਛੁ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ਨਹੀ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈ ॥

ajhū kachhu bigriō nahī jō prabh gun gāvai ॥

अजहू कछु बिगरिओ नही जो प्रभ गुन गावै ॥

Even now, no harm has been done, if you will only sing God's Praises.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਭਜਨ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਭੈ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥੧॥

kahu nānak tih bhajan tē nirbhai padu pāvai ॥2॥1॥

कहु नानक तिह भजन ते निरभै पदु पावै ॥२॥१॥

Says Nanak, by meditating and vibrating upon Him, you shall obtain the state of fearlessness. ||2||1||
