ਚਾਦਨਾ ਚਾਦਨੁ ਆਂਗਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਚਾਦਨਾ ॥੧॥

chādnā chādnu āṅgni prabh jīu antri chādnā ॥1॥

चादना चादनु आंगनि प्रभ जीउ अंतरि चादना ॥१॥

Moonlight, moonlight - in the courtyard of the mind, let the moonlight of God shine down. ||1||

ਆਰਾਧਨਾ ਅਰਾਧਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਨਾ ॥੨॥

ārādhnā arādhnu nīkā hari hari nāmu arādhnā ॥2॥

आराधना अराधनु नीका हरि हरि नामु अराधना ॥२॥

Meditation, meditation - sublime is meditation on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||2||

ਤਿਆਗਨਾ ਤਿਆਗਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਤਿਆਗਨਾ ॥੩॥

tiāgnā tiāgnu nīkā kāmu krōdhu lōbhu tiāgnā ॥3॥

तिआगना तिआगनु नीका कामु क्रोधु लोभु तिआगना ॥३॥

Renunciation, renunciation - noble is the renunciation of sexual desire, anger and greed. ||3||

ਮਾਗਨਾ ਮਾਗਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਗਨਾ ॥੪॥

māgnā māgnu nīkā hari jasu gur tē māgnā ॥4॥

मागना मागनु नीका हरि जसु गुर ते मागना ॥४॥

Begging, begging - it is noble to beg for the Lord's Praise from the Guru. ||4||

ਜਾਗਨਾ ਜਾਗਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਗਨਾ ॥੫॥

jāgnā jāgnu nīkā hari kīratan mahi jāgnā ॥5॥

जागना जागनु नीका हरि कीरतन महि जागना ॥५॥

Vigils, vigils - sublime is the vigil spent singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. ||5||

ਲਾਗਨਾ ਲਾਗਨੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗਨਾ ॥੬॥

lāgnā lāgnu nīkā gur charṇī manu lāgnā ॥6॥

लागना लागनु नीका गुर चरणी मनु लागना ॥६॥

Attachment, attachment - sublime is the attachment of the mind to the Guru's Feet. ||6||

ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਪਰਾਪਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਭਾਗਨਾ ॥੭॥

ih bidhi tishi parāpatē jā kai masatki bhāgnā ॥7॥

इह बिधि तिसहि परापते जा कै मसतकि भागना ॥७॥

He alone is blessed with this way of life, upon whose forehead such destiny is recorded. ||7||

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨੀਕਾ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾਗਨਾ ॥੮॥੧॥੪॥

kahu nānak tisu sabhu kichhu nīkā jō prabh kī sarnāgnā ॥8॥1॥4॥

कहु नानक तिसु सभु किछु नीका जो प्रभ की सरनागना ॥८॥१॥४॥

Says Nanak, everything is sublime and noble, for one who enters the Sanctuary of God. ||8||1||4||
