ਬਿੰਦੁ ਤੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਕੀਆ ਅਗਨਿ ਕੁੰਡ ਰਹਾਇਆ ॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ik-ōṅkār satigur prasādi ॥

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

ਬਿੰਦੁ ਤੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਕੀਆ ਅਗਨਿ ਕੁੰਡ ਰਹਾਇਆ ॥

bindu tē jini piṇḍu kīā agni kuṇḍ rahāiā ॥

बिंदु ते जिनि पिंडु कीआ अगनि कुंड रहाइआ ॥

The Lord created the body from sperm, and protected it in the fire pit.

ਦਸ ਮਾਸ ਮਾਤਾ ਉਦਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

das mās mātā udri rākhiā bahuri lāgī māiā ॥1॥

दस मास माता उदरि राखिआ बहुरि लागी माइआ ॥१॥

For ten months He preserved you in your mother's womb, and then, after you were born, you became attached to Maya. ||1||

ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਲੋਭਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਖੋਇਆ ॥

prānī kāhē kau lōbhi lāgē ratan janmu khōiā ॥

प्रानी काहे कउ लोभि लागे रतन जनमु खोइआ ॥

O mortal, why have you attached yourself to greed, and lost the jewel of life?

ਪੂਰਬ ਜਨਮਿ ਕਰਮ ਭੂਮਿ ਬੀਜੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਬੋਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

pūrab janmi karam bhūmi bīju nāhī bōiā ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

पूरब जनमि करम भूमि बीजु नाही बोइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

You did not plant the seeds of good actions in the earth of your past lives. ||1||Pause||

ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੇ ਬਿਰਧਿ ਭਇਆ ਹੋਨਾ ਸੋ ਹੋਇਆ ॥

bārik tē birdhi bhaiā hōnā sō hōiā ॥

बारिक ते बिरधि भइआ होना सो होइआ ॥

From an infant, you have grown old. That which was to happen, has happened.

ਜਾ ਜਮੁ ਆਇ ਝੋਟ ਪਕਰੈ ਤਬਹਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਰੋਇਆ ॥੨॥

jā jamu āi jhōṭ pakrai tabhi kāhē rōiā ॥2॥

जा जमु आइ झोट पकरै तबहि काहे रोइआ ॥२॥

When the Messenger of Death comes and grabs you by your hair, why do you cry out then? ||2||

ਜੀਵਨੈ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਕਰਹਿ ਜਮੁ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ਸਾਸਾ ॥

jīvnai kī ās karahi jamu nihārai sāsā ॥

जीवनै की आस करहि जमु निहारै सासा ॥

You hope for long life, while Death counts your breaths.

ਬਾਜੀਗਰੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਚੇਤਿ ਢਾਲਿ ਪਾਸਾ ॥੩॥੧॥੨੩॥

bājīgrī saṃsāru kabīrā chēti ḍhāli pāsā ॥3॥1॥23॥

बाजीगरी संसारु कबीरा चेति ढालि पासा ॥३॥१॥२३॥

The world is a game, O Kabeer, so throw the dice consciously. ||3||1||23||
