ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਜੋ ਜੀਵਨਾ ਤੇਤੋ ਬਿਰਥਾਰੀ ॥

बिलावलु महला ५ ॥

Bilaaval, Fifth Mehl:

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਜੋ ਜੀਵਨਾ ਤੇਤੋ ਬਿਰਥਾਰੀ ॥

binu sādhū jō jīvnā tētō birthārī ॥

बिनु साधू जो जीवना तेतो बिरथारी ॥

That life, which has no contact with the Holy, is useless.

ਮਿਲਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਭਿ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਮਿਟੇ ਗਤਿ ਭਈ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥

milat saṅgi sabhi bhram miṭē gati bhaī hamārī ॥1॥

मिलत संगि सभि भ्रम मिटे गति भई हमारी ॥१॥

Joining their congregation, all doubts are dispelled, and I am emancipated. ||1||

ਜਾ ਦਿਨ ਭੇਟੇ ਸਾਧ ਮੋਹਿ ਉਆ ਦਿਨ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥

jā din bhēṭē sādh mōhi uā din balihārī ॥

जा दिन भेटे साध मोहि उआ दिन बलिहारी ॥

That day, when I meet with the Holy - I am a sacrifice to that day.

ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਅਪਨੋ ਜੀਅਰਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

tanu manu apnō jīrā phiri phiri hau vārī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

तनु मनु अपनो जीअरा फिरि फिरि हउ वारी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Again and again, I sacrifice my body, mind and soul to them. ||1||Pause||

ਏਤ ਛਡਾਈ ਮੋਹਿ ਤੇ ਇਤਨੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਤਾਰੀ ॥

ēt chhaḍāī mōhi tē itnī driṛtārī ॥

एत छडाई मोहि ते इतनी द्रिड़तारी ॥

They have helped me renounce this ego, and implant this humility within myself.

ਸਗਲ ਰੇਨ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਭਇਆ ਬਿਨਸੀ ਅਪਧਾਰੀ ॥੨॥

sagal rēn ihu manu bhaiā binsī apdhārī ॥2॥

सगल रेन इहु मनु भइआ बिनसी अपधारी ॥२॥

This mind has become the dust of all men's feet, and my self-conceit has been dispelled. ||2||

ਨਿੰਦ ਚਿੰਦ ਪਰ ਦੂਖਨਾ ਏ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਰੀ ॥

nind chind par dūkhnā ē khin mahi jārī ॥

निंद चिंद पर दूखना ए खिन महि जारी ॥

In an instant, I burnt away the ideas of slander and ill-will towards others.

ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਅਰੁ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਪੇਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਰਾਰੀ ॥੩॥

daiā maiā aru nikṭi pēkhu nāhī dūrārī ॥3॥

दइआ मइआ अरु निकटि पेखु नाही दूरारी ॥३॥

I see close at hand, the Lord of mercy and compassion; He is not far away at all. ||3||

ਤਨ ਮਨ ਸੀਤਲ ਭਏ ਅਬ ਮੁਕਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ॥

tan man sītal bhaē ab muktē saṃsārī ॥

तन मन सीतल भए अब मुकते संसारी ॥

My body and mind are cooled and soothed, and now, I am liberated from the world.

ਹੀਤ ਚੀਤ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਧਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਰਸਾਰੀ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੪੦॥

hīt chīt sabh prān dhan nānak darsārī ॥4॥10॥40॥

हीत चीत सभ प्रान धन नानक दरसारी ॥४॥१०॥४०॥

Love, consciousness, the breath of life, wealth and everything, O Nanak, are in the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||4||10||40||
