ਭਰਿ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਮੈ ਮਤ ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਹੁਣੀ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਭਰਿ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਮੈ ਮਤ ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਘਰਿ ਪਾਹੁਣੀ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥

bhari jōbni mai mat pēīaṛai ghari pāhuṇī bali rām jīu ॥

भरि जोबनि मै मत पेईअड़ै घरि पाहुणी बलि राम जीउ ॥

Intoxicated with the wine of youth, I did not realize that I was only a guest at my parents' home (in this world).

ਮੈਲੀ ਅਵਗਣਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਗੁਣ ਨ ਸਮਾਵਨੀ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥

mailī avgaṇi chiti binu gur guṇ na samāvnī bali rām jīu ॥

मैली अवगणि चिति बिनु गुर गुण न समावनी बलि राम जीउ ॥

My consciousness is polluted with faults and mistakes; without the Guru, virtue does not even enter into me.

ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਣੀ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਬਾਦਿ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥

guṇ sār na jāṇī bharmi bhulāṇī jōbnu bādi gavāiā ॥

गुण सार न जाणी भरमि भुलाणी जोबनु बादि गवाइआ ॥

I have not known the value of virtue; I have been deluded by doubt. I have wasted away my youth in vain.

ਵਰੁ ਘਰੁ ਦਰੁ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਤਾ ਪਿਰ ਕਾ ਸਹਜੁ ਨ ਭਾਇਆ ॥

varu gharu daru darsanu nahī jātā pir kā sahju na bhāiā ॥

वरु घरु दरु दरसनु नही जाता पिर का सहजु न भाइआ ॥

I have not known my Husband Lord, His celestial home and gate, or the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. I have not had the pleasure of my Husband Lord's celestial peace.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਛਿ ਨ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਾਲੀ ਸੂਤੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ॥

satigur pūchhhi na mārgi chālī sūtī raiṇi vihāṇī ॥

सतिगुर पूछि न मारगि चाली सूती रैणि विहाणी ॥

After consulting the True Guru, I have not walked on the Path; the night of my life is passing away in sleep.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬਾਲਤਣਿ ਰਾਡੇਪਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਧਨ ਕੁਮਲਾਣੀ ॥੧॥

nānak bāltaṇi rāḍēpā binu pir dhan kumlāṇī ॥1॥

नानक बालतणि राडेपा बिनु पिर धन कुमलाणी ॥१॥

O Nanak, in the prime of my youth, I am a widow; without my Husband Lord, the soul-bride is wasting away. ||1||

ਬਾਬਾ ਮੈ ਵਰੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥

bābā mai varu dēhi mai hari varu bhāvai tis kī bali rām jīu ॥

बाबा मै वरु देहि मै हरि वरु भावै तिस की बलि राम जीउ ॥

O father, give me in marriage to the Lord; I am pleased with Him as my Husband. I belong to Him.

ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥

ravi rahiā jug chāri tribhvaṇ bāṇī jis kī bali rām jīu ॥

रवि रहिआ जुग चारि त्रिभवण बाणी जिस की बलि राम जीउ ॥

He is pervading throughout the four ages, and the Word of His Bani permeates the three worlds.

ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਕੰਤੁ ਰਵੈ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਅਵਗਣਵੰਤੀ ਦੂਰੇ ॥

tribhvaṇ kantu ravai sōhāgṇi avgaṇvantī dūrē ॥

त्रिभवण कंतु रवै सोहागणि अवगणवंती दूरे ॥

The Husband Lord of the three worlds ravishes and enjoys His virtuous brides, but He keeps the ungraceful and unvirtuous ones far away.

ਜੈਸੀ ਆਸਾ ਤੈਸੀ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰੇ ॥

jaisī āsā taisī mansā pūri rahiā bharpūrē ॥

जैसी आसा तैसी मनसा पूरि रहिआ भरपूरे ॥

As are our hopes, so are our minds' desires, which the All-pervading Lord brings to fulfillment.

ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਸੁ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਰਾਂਡ ਨ ਮੈਲੈ ਵੇਸੇ ॥

hari kī nāri su sarab suhāgṇi rāṇḍ na mailai vēsē ॥

हरि की नारि सु सरब सुहागणि रांड न मैलै वेसे ॥

The bride of the Lord is forever happy and virtuous; she shall never be a widow, and she shall never have to wear dirty clothes.

ਨਾਨਕ ਮੈ ਵਰੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਭਾਵੈ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਤੈਸੇ ॥੨॥

nānak mai varu sāchā bhāvai jugi jugi prītam taisē ॥2॥

नानक मै वरु साचा भावै जुगि जुगि प्रीतम तैसे ॥२॥

O Nanak, I love my True Husband Lord; my Beloved is the same, age after age. ||2||

ਬਾਬਾ ਲਗਨੁ ਗਣਾਇ ਹੰ ਭੀ ਵੰਾ ਸਾਹੁਰੈ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥

bābā lagnu gaṇāi haṃ bhī vaā sāhurai bali rām jīu ॥

बाबा लगनु गणाइ हं भी वंा साहुरै बलि राम जीउ ॥

O Baba, calculate that auspicious moment, when I too shall be going to my in-laws' house.

ਸਾਹਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਰਜਾਇ ਸੋ ਨ ਟਲੈ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰੈ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥

sāhā hukmu rajāi sō na ṭalai jō prabhu karai bali rām jīu ॥

साहा हुकमु रजाइ सो न टलै जो प्रभु करै बलि राम जीउ ॥

The moment of that marriage will be set by the Hukam of God's Command; His Will cannot be changed.

ਕਿਰਤੁ ਪਇਆ ਕਰਤੈ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਟਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਈ ॥

kirtu paiā kartai kari pāiā mēṭi na sakai kōī ॥

किरतु पइआ करतै करि पाइआ मेटि न सकै कोई ॥

The karmic record of past deeds, written by the Creator Lord, cannot be erased by anyone.

ਜਾੀ ਨਾਉ ਨਰਹ ਨਿਹਕੇਵਲੁ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਤਿਹੁ ਲੋਈ ॥

jī nāu narah nihkēvlu ravi rahiā tihu lōī ॥

जाी नाउ नरह निहकेवलु रवि रहिआ तिहु लोई ॥

The most respected member of the marriage party, my Husband, is the independent Lord of all beings, pervading and permeating the three worlds.

ਮਾਇ ਨਿਰਾਸੀ ਰੋਇ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੀ ਬਾਲੀ ਬਾਲੈ ਹੇਤੇ ॥

māi nirāsī rōi vichhunnī bālī bālai hētē ॥

माइ निरासी रोइ विछुंनी बाली बालै हेते ॥

Maya, crying out in pain, leaves, seeing that the bride and the groom are in love.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਖ ਮਹਲੀ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚੇਤੇ ॥੩॥

nānak sāc sabdi sukh mahlī gur charṇī prabhu chētē ॥3॥

नानक साच सबदि सुख महली गुर चरणी प्रभु चेते ॥३॥

O Nanak, the peace of the Mansion of God's Presence comes through the True Word of the Shabad; the bride keeps the Guru's Feet enshrined in her mind. ||3||

ਬਾਬੁਲਿ ਦਿਤੜੀ ਦੂਰਿ ਨਾ ਆਵੈ ਘਰਿ ਪੇਈਐ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥

bābuli ditṛī dūri nā āvai ghari pēīai bali rām jīu ॥

बाबुलि दितड़ी दूरि ना आवै घरि पेईऐ बलि राम जीउ ॥

My father has given me in marriage far away, and I shall not return to my parents' home.

ਰਹਸੀ ਵੇਖਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਪਿਰਿ ਰਾਵੀ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਹੀਐ ਬਲਿ ਰਾਮ ਜੀਉ ॥

rahsī vēkhi hadūri piri rāvī ghari sōhīai bali rām jīu ॥

रहसी वेखि हदूरि पिरि रावी घरि सोहीऐ बलि राम जीउ ॥

I am delighted to see my Husband Lord near at hand; in His Home, I am so beautiful.

ਸਾਚੇ ਪਿਰ ਲੋੜੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਜੋੜੀ ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਪਰਧਾਨੇ ॥

sāchē pir lōṛī prītam jōṛī mati pūrī pardhānē ॥

साचे पिर लोड़ी प्रीतम जोड़ी मति पूरी परधाने ॥

My True Beloved Husband Lord desires me; He has joined me to Himself, and made my intellect pure and sublime.

ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਮੇਲਾ ਥਾਨਿ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੇ ॥

sañjōgī mēlā thāni suhēlā guṇvantī gur giānē ॥

संजोगी मेला थानि सुहेला गुणवंती गुर गिआने ॥

By good destiny I met Him, and was given a place of rest; through the Guru's Wisdom, I have become virtuous.

ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਪਲੈ ਸਚੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਏ ॥

satu santōkhu sadā sachu palai sachu bōlai pir bhāē ॥

सतु संतोखु सदा सचु पलै सचु बोलै पिर भाए ॥

I gather lasting Truth and contentment in my lap, and my Beloved is pleased with my truthful speech.

ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਨਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥੪॥੧॥

nānak vichhuṛi nā dukhu pāē gurmati aṅki samāē ॥4॥1॥

नानक विछुड़ि ना दुखु पाए गुरमति अंकि समाए ॥४॥१॥

O Nanak, I shall not suffer the pain of separation; through the Guru's Teachings, I merge into the loving embrace of the Lord's Being. ||4||1||
