ਭੈ ਭਾਇ ਜਾਗੇ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜਾਗ੍ਰਣ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਾਰਿ ॥

Prabhaatee, Third Mehl:

ਭੈ ਭਾਇ ਜਾਗੇ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜਾਗ੍ਰਣ ਕਰਹਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਾਰਿ ॥

bhai bhāi jāgē sē jan jāgraṇ karahi haumai mailu utāri ॥

भै भाइ जागे से जन जाग्रण करहि हउमै मैलु उतारि ॥

Those who remain awake and aware in the Love and Fear of God, rid themselves of the filth and pollution of egotism.

ਸਦਾ ਜਾਗਹਿ ਘਰੁ ਅਪਣਾ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਪੰਚ ਤਸਕਰ ਕਾਢਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੧॥

sadā jāghi gharu apṇā rākhhi pañc taskar kāḍhahi māri ॥1॥

सदा जागहि घरु अपणा राखहि पंच तसकर काढहि मारि ॥१॥

They remain awake and aware forever, and protect their homes, by beating and driving out the five thieves. ||1||

ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥

man mērē gurmukhi nāmu dhiāi ॥

मन मेरे गुरमुखि नामु धिआइ ॥

O my mind, as Gurmukh, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਜਿਤੁ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਨ ਸੇਈ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jitu mārgi hari pāīai man sēī karam kamāi ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

जितु मारगि हरि पाईऐ मन सेई करम कमाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

O mind, do only those deeds which will lead you to the Path of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਹਜ ਧੁਨਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥

gurmukhi sahaj dhuni ūpjai dukhu haumai vichhu jāi ॥

गुरमुखि सहज धुनि ऊपजै दुखु हउमै विचहु जाइ ॥

The celestial melody wells up in the Gurmukh, and the pains of egotism are taken away.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਹਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੨॥

hari nāmā hari mani vasai sahjē hari guṇ gāi ॥2॥

हरि नामा हरि मनि वसै सहजे हरि गुण गाइ ॥२॥

The Name of the Lord abides in the mind, as one intuitively sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||

ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਮੁਖ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥

gurmatī mukh sōhṇē hari rākhiā uri dhāri ॥

गुरमती मुख सोहणे हरि राखिआ उरि धारि ॥

Those who follow the Guru's Teachings - their faces are radiant and beautiful. They keep the Lord enshrined in their hearts.

ਐਥੈ ਓਥੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਘਣਾ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੩॥

aithai ōthai sukhu ghaṇā japi hari hari utrē pāri ॥3॥

ऐथै ओथै सुखु घणा जपि हरि हरि उतरे पारि ॥३॥

Here and hereafter, they find absolute peace; chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, they are carried across to the other shore. ||3||

ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਾਗ੍ਰਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਪਵਈ ਥਾਇ ॥

haumai vichi jāgrṇu na hōvaī hari bhagti na pavaī thāi ॥

हउमै विचि जाग्रणु न होवई हरि भगति न पवई थाइ ॥

In egotism, one cannot remain awake and aware, and one's devotional worship of the Lord is not accepted.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦਰਿ ਢੋਈ ਨਾ ਲਹਹਿ ਭਾਇ ਦੂਜੈ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥੪॥

manmukh dari ḍhōī nā lahhi bhāi dūjai karam kamāi ॥4॥

मनमुख दरि ढोई ना लहहि भाइ दूजै करम कमाइ ॥४॥

The self-willed manmukhs find no place in the Court of the Lord; they do their deeds in the love of duality. ||4||

ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਖਾਣਾ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਪੈਨ੍‍ਣਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥

dhrigu khāṇā dhrigu pain‍ṇā jinā dūjai bhāi piāru ॥

ध्रिगु खाणा ध्रिगु पैन्‍णा जिन्‍ा दूजै भाइ पिआरु ॥

Cursed is the food, and cursed are the clothes, of those who are attached to the love of duality.

ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕੇ ਕੀੜੇ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਰਾਤੇ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਹੋਹਿ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥੫॥

bisṭā kē kīṛē bisṭā rātē mari jammhi hōhi khuāru ॥5॥

बिसटा के कीड़े बिसटा राते मरि जंमहि होहि खुआरु ॥५॥

They are like maggots in manure, sinking into manure. In death and rebirth, they are wasted away to ruin. ||5||

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥

jin kau satiguru bhēṭiā tinā viṭhu bali jāu ॥

जिन कउ सतिगुरु भेटिआ तिना विटहु बलि जाउ ॥

I am a sacrifice to those who meet with the True Guru.

ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਾਂ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥੬॥

tin kī saṅgti mili rahāṃ sachē sachi samāu ॥6॥

तिन की संगति मिलि रहां सचे सचि समाउ ॥६॥

I shall continue to associate with them; devoted to Truth, I am absorbed in Truth. ||6||

ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਉਪਾਇ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥

pūrai bhāgi guru pāīai upāi kitai na pāiā jāi ॥

पूरै भागि गुरु पाईऐ उपाइ कितै न पाइआ जाइ ॥

By perfect destiny, the Guru is found. He cannot be found by any efforts.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਹਜੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੭॥

satigur tē sahju ūpjai haumai sabdi jalāi ॥7॥

सतिगुर ते सहजु ऊपजै हउमै सबदि जलाइ ॥७॥

Through the True Guru, intuitive wisdom wells up; through the Word of the Shabad, egotism is burnt away. ||7||

ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਭਜੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਣੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥

hari sarṇāī bhaju man mērē sabh kichhu karṇai jōgu ॥

हरि सरणाई भजु मन मेरे सभ किछु करणै जोगु ॥

O my mind, hurry to the Sanctuary of the Lord; He is Potent to do everything.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਗੁ ॥੮॥੨॥੭॥੨॥੯॥

nānak nāmu na vīsrai jō kichhu karai su hōgu ॥8॥2॥7॥2॥9॥

नानक नामु न वीसरै जो किछु करै सु होगु ॥८॥२॥७॥२॥९॥

O Nanak, never forget the Naam, the Name of the Lord. Whatever He does, comes to pass. ||8||2||7||2||9||
