Third Mehl:

ਬਾਬੀਹਾ ਭਿੰਨੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਸਹਜੇ ਸਚਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥

bābīhā bhinnī raiṇi bōliā sahjē sachi subhāi ॥

बाबीहा भिंनी रैणि बोलिआ सहजे सचि सुभाइ ॥

The night is wet with dew; the rainbird sings the True Name with intuitive ease.

ਇਹੁ ਜਲੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਉ ਹੈ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਰਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

ihu jalu mērā jīu hai jal binu rahṇu na jāi ॥

इहु जलु मेरा जीउ है जल बिनु रहणु न जाइ ॥

This water is my very soul; without water, I cannot survive.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਜਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥

gur sabadī jalu pāīai vichhu āpu gavāi ॥

गुर सबदी जलु पाईऐ विचहु आपु गवाइ ॥

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, this water is obtained, and egotism is eradicated from within.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਚਸਾ ਨ ਜੀਵਦੀ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥

nānak jisu binu chasā na jīvadī sō satiguri dīā milāi ॥2॥

नानक जिसु बिनु चसा न जीवदी सो सतिगुरि दीआ मिलाइ ॥२॥

O Nanak, I cannot live without Him, even for a moment; the True Guru has led me to meet Him. ||2||
