ਬਾਬਾ ਫਿਰ ਮੱਕੇ ਗਯਾ ਨੀਲ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰੇ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ॥

ਬਾਬਾ ਫਿਰ ਮੱਕੇ ਗਯਾ ਨੀਲ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰੇ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ॥

bābā phir makkē gayā nīl basatr dhārē banvārī॥

बाबा फिर मॱके गया नील बसत्र धारे बनवारी॥

Donning blue attire then Baba Nanak went to Mecca.

ਆਸਾ ਹੱਥ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਕੱਛ ਕੂਜਾ ਬਾਂਗ ਮੁਸੱਲਾ ਧਾਰੀ॥

āsā hatth kitāb kacchh kūjā bāṅg musllā dhārī॥

आसा हॱथ किताब कॱछ कूजा बांग मुसॱला धारी॥

He held staff in his hand, pressed a book under his armpit, caught hold of a metal pot and mattress.

ਬੈਠਾ ਜਾਇ ਮਸੀਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਥੇ ਹਾਜੀ ਹੱਜ ਗੁਜਾਰੀ॥

baiṭhā jāi masīt vic jithē hājī hajj gujārī॥

बैठा जाइ मसीत विच जिथे हाजी हॱज गुजारी॥

Now he sat in a mosque where the pilgrms (hajis) had gathered.

ਜਾਂ ਬਾਬਾ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਲ ਮਹਿਰਾਬੇ ਪਾਂਇ ਪਸਾਰੀ॥

jāṃ bābā suttā rāt nūṃ vall mahirābē pāṃi pasārī॥

जां बाबा सुॱता रात नूं वॱल महिराबे पांइ पसारी॥

When Baba (Nanak) slept in the night spreading his legs towards the alcove of mosque at Kaba,

ਜੀਵਨ ਮਾਰੀ ਲਤ ਦੀ ਕੇੜ੍ਹਾ ਸੁਤਾ ਕੁਫ਼ਰ ਕੁਫ਼ਾਰੀ॥

jīvan mārī lat dī kēṛhā sutā kufar kufārī॥

जीवन मारी लत दी केड़्हा सुता कुफ़र कुफ़ारी॥

The qazi named Jivan kicked him and asked who was this infidel enacting blasphemy.

ਲਤਾਂ ਵਲ ਖ਼ੁਦਾਇ ਦੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਰ ਪਇਆ ਹੋਇ ਬਜਗਾਰੀ॥

latāṃ val ḵẖudāi dē kiuṅkar paiā hōi bajgārī॥

लतां वल ख़ुदाइ दे किउंकर पइआ होइ बजगारी॥

Why this sinner is sleeping his legs spread towards God, Khuda.

ਟੰਗੋਂ ਪਕੜ ਘਸੀਟਿਆ ਫਿਰਿਆ ਮੱਕਾ ਕਲਾ ਦਿਖਾਰੀ॥

ṭaṅgōṃ pakaṛ ghasīṭiā phiriā makkā kalā dikhārī॥

टंगों पकड़ घसीटिआ फिरिआ मॱका कला दिखारी॥

Catching hold of the legs he lynched (Baba Nanak) and lo and behold the miracle, the whole of Mecca seemed to be revolving.

ਹੋਇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰੇਨ ਜੁਹਾਰੀ ॥੩੨॥

hōi hairān karēn juhārī ॥32॥

होइ हैरान करेन जुहारी ॥३२॥

All got surprised and they all bowed.
