Aasaa, Fifth Mehl, Chhant, First House:
ਅਨਦੋ ਅਨਦੁ ਘਣਾ ਮੈ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਡੀਠਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
andō andu ghaṇā mai sō prabhu ḍīṭhā rām ॥
अनदो अनदु घणा मै सो प्रभु डीठा राम ॥
Joy - great joy! I have seen the Lord God!
ਚਾਖਿਅੜਾ ਚਾਖਿਅੜਾ ਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
chākhiṛā chākhiṛā mai hari rasu mīṭhā rām ॥
चाखिअड़ा चाखिअड़ा मै हरि रसु मीठा राम ॥
Tasted - I have tasted the sweet essence of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਵੂਠਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤੂਠਾ ਸਹਜੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
hari rasu mīṭhā man mahi vūṭhā satiguru tūṭhā sahju bhaiā ॥
हरि रसु मीठा मन महि वूठा सतिगुरु तूठा सहजु भइआ ॥
The sweet essence of the Lord has rained down in my mind; by the pleasure of the True Guru, I have attained peaceful ease.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਵਸਿ ਆਇਆ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਪੰਚ ਦੁਸਟ ਓਇ ਭਾਗਿ ਗਇਆ ॥
grihu vasi āiā maṅglu gāiā pañc dusaṭ ōi bhāgi gaiā ॥
ग्रिहु वसि आइआ मंगलु गाइआ पंच दुसट ओइ भागि गइआ ॥
I have come to dwell in the home of my own self, and I sing the songs of joy; the five villains have fled.
ਸੀਤਲ ਆਘਾਣੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੇ ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਬਸੀਠਾ ॥
sītal āghāṇē ammrit bāṇē sājan sant basīṭhā ॥
सीतल आघाणे अंम्रित बाणे साजन संत बसीठा ॥
I am soothed and satisfied with the Ambrosial Bani of His Word; the friendly Saint is my advocate.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨੈਣੀ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੧॥
kahu nānak hari siu manu māniā sō prabhu naiṇī ḍīṭhā ॥1॥
कहु नानक हरि सिउ मनु मानिआ सो प्रभु नैणी डीठा ॥१॥
Says Nanak, my mind is in harmony with the Lord; I have seen God with my eyes. ||1||
ਸੋਹਿਅੜੇ ਸੋਹਿਅੜੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੰਕ ਦੁਆਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

सोहिअड़े सोहिअड़े मेरे बंक दुआरे राम ॥
Adorned - adorned are my beauteous gates, O Lord.
ਪਾਹੁਨੜੇ ਪਾਹੁਨੜੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
pāhunṛē pāhunṛē mērē sant piārē rām ॥
पाहुनड़े पाहुनड़े मेरे संत पिआरे राम ॥
Guests - my guests are the Beloved Saints, O Lord.
ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਿ ਲਗੇ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
sant piārē kāraj sārē namsakār kari lagē sēvā ॥
संत पिआरे कारज सारे नमसकार करि लगे सेवा ॥
The Beloved Saints have resolved my affairs; I humbly bowed to them, and committed myself to their service.
ਆਪੇ ਜਾੀ ਆਪੇ ਮਾੀ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਪਿ ਦੇਵਾ ॥
āpē jī āpē mī āpi suāmī āpi dēvā ॥
आपे जाी आपे माी आपि सुआमी आपि देवा ॥
He Himself is the groom's party, and He Himself the bride's party; He Himself is the Lord and Master; He Himself is the Divine Lord.
ਅਪਣਾ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਧਾਰਨ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
apṇā kārju āpi savārē āpē dhāran dhārē ॥
अपणा कारजु आपि सवारे आपे धारन धारे ॥
He Himself resolves His own affairs; He Himself sustains the Universe.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹੁ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਬੈਠਾ ਸੋਹੇ ਬੰਕ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥੨॥
kahu nānak sahu ghar mahi baiṭhā sōhē baṅk duārē ॥2॥
कहु नानक सहु घर महि बैठा सोहे बंक दुआरे ॥२॥
Says Nanak, my Bridegroom is sitting in my home; the gates of my body are beautifully adorned. ||2||
ਨਵ ਨਿਧੇ ਨਉ ਨਿਧੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਆਈ ਰਾਮ ॥
nav nidhē nau nidhē mērē ghar mahi āī rām ॥
नव निधे नउ निधे मेरे घर महि आई राम ॥
The nine treasures - the nine treasures come into my home, Lord.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਮੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਰਾਮ ॥
sabhu kichhu mai sabhu kichhu pāiā nāmu dhiāī rām ॥
सभु किछु मै सभु किछु पाइआ नामु धिआई राम ॥
Everything - I obtain everything, meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਸਦਾ ਸਖਾਈ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਈ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ॥
nāmu dhiāī sadā sakhāī sahaj subhāī gōvindā ॥
नामु धिआई सदा सखाई सहज सुभाई गोविंदा ॥
Meditating on the Naam, the Lord of the Universe becomes the one's eternal companion, and he dwells in peaceful ease.
ਗਣਤ ਮਿਟਾਈ ਚੂਕੀ ਧਾਈ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਾ ॥
gaṇat miṭāī chūkī dhāī kadē na viāpai man chindā ॥
गणत मिटाई चूकी धाई कदे न विआपै मन चिंदा ॥
His calculations are ended, his wanderings cease, and his mind is no longer afflicted with anxiety.
ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਵਾਜੇ ਅਚਰਜ ਸੋਭ ਬਣਾਈ ॥
gōvind gājē anhad vājē acraj sōbh baṇāī ॥
गोविंद गाजे अनहद वाजे अचरज सोभ बणाई ॥
When the Lord of the Universe reveals Himself, and the unstruck melody of the sound current vibrates, the drama of wondrous splendor is enacted.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਿਰੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਸੰਗੇ ਤਾ ਮੈ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੩॥
kahu nānak piru mērai saṅgē tā mai nav nidhi pāī ॥3॥
कहु नानक पिरु मेरै संगे ता मै नव निधि पाई ॥३॥
Says Nanak, when my Husband Lord is with me, I obtain the nine treasures. ||3||
ਸਰਸਿਅੜੇ ਸਰਸਿਅੜੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਸਭ ਮੀਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
sarsia??ē sarsiaṛē mērē bhāī sabh mītā rām ॥
सरसिअड़े सरसिअड़े मेरे भाई सभ मीता राम ॥
Over-joyed - over-joyed are all my brothers and friends.
ਬਿਖਮੋ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਅਖਾੜਾ ਮੈ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੀਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥
bikhmō bikhmu akhāṛā mai gur mili jītā rām ॥
बिखमो बिखमु अखाड़ा मै गुर मिलि जीता राम ॥
Meeting the Guru, I have won the most arduous battle in the arena of life.
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਜੀਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੂਟੀ ਭੀਤਾ ਭਰਮ ਗੜਾ ॥
gur mili jītā hari hari kītā tūṭī bhītā bharam gaṛā ॥
गुर मिलि जीता हरि हरि कीता तूटी भीता भरम गड़ा ॥
Meeting the Guru, I am victorious; praising the Lord, Har, Har, the walls of the fortress of doubt have been destroyed.
ਪਾਇਆ ਖਜਾਨਾ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ਸਾਣਥ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਪਿ ਖੜਾ ॥
pāiā khajānā bahutu nidhānā sāṇath mērī āpi khaṛā ॥
पाइआ खजाना बहुतु निधाना साणथ मेरी आपि खड़ा ॥
I have obtained the wealth of so many treasures; the Lord Himself has stood by my side.
ਸੋਈ ਸੁਗਿਆਨਾ ਸੋ ਪਰਧਾਨਾ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ॥
sōī sugiānā sō pardhānā jō prabhi apnā kītā ॥
सोई सुगिआना सो परधाना जो प्रभि अपना कीता ॥
He is the man of spiritual wisdom, and he is the leader, whom God has made His own.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਂ ਵਲਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਾ ਸਰਸੇ ਭਾਈ ਮੀਤਾ ॥੪॥੧॥
kahu nānak jāṃ vali suāmī tā sarasē bhāī mītā ॥4॥1॥
कहु नानक जां वलि सुआमी ता सरसे भाई मीता ॥४॥१॥
Says Nanak, when the Lord and Master is on my side, then my brothers and friends rejoice. ||4||1||
