ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨੀਰੁ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਮਨ ਮਜਨੁ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਸੰਗਿ ਗਹੇ ॥

Prabhaatee, First Mehl:

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨੀਰੁ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਮਨ ਮਜਨੁ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਸੰਗਿ ਗਹੇ ॥

ammritu nīru giāni man majnu aṭhsaṭhi tīrath saṅgi gahē ॥

अंम्रितु नीरु गिआनि मन मजनु अठसठि तीरथ संगि गहे ॥

One who bathes in the Ambrosial Water of spiritual wisdom takes with him the virtues of the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage.

ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਜਵਾਹਰ ਮਾਣਕ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਿਖੁ ਸੁੋ ਖੋਜਿ ਲਹੈ ॥੧॥

gur updēsi javāhar māṇak sēvē sikhu sō khōji lahai ॥1॥

गुर उपदेसि जवाहर माणक सेवे सिखु सुो खोजि लहै ॥१॥

The Guru's Teachings are the gems and jewels; the Sikh who serves Him searches and finds them. ||1||

ਗੁਰ ਸਮਾਨਿ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥

gur samāni tīrthu nahī kōi ॥

गुर समानि तीरथु नही कोइ ॥

There is no sacred shrine equal to the Guru.

ਸਰੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਤਾਸੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

saru santōkhu tāsu guru hōi ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

सरु संतोखु तासु गुरु होइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

The Guru encompasses the ocean of contentment. ||1||Pause||

ਗੁਰੁ ਦਰੀਆਉ ਸਦਾ ਜਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਹਰੈ ॥

guru darīāu sadā jalu nirmalu miliā durmati mailu harai ॥

गुरु दरीआउ सदा जलु निरमलु मिलिआ दुरमति मैलु हरै ॥

The Guru is the River, from which the Pure Water is obtained forever; it washes away the filth and pollution of evil-mindedness.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਪਾਇਐ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਾਵਣੁ ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤਹੁ ਦੇਵ ਕਰੈ ॥੨॥

satiguri pāiai pūrā nāvṇu pasū parēthu dēv karai ॥2॥

सतिगुरि पाइऐ पूरा नावणु पसू परेतहु देव करै ॥२॥

Finding the True Guru, the perfect cleansing bath is obtained, which transforms even beasts and ghosts into gods. ||2||

ਰਤਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਤਲ ਹੀਅਲੁ ਸੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮਲੁ ਕਹੀਐ ॥

ratā sachi nāmi tal hīalu sō guru parmalu kahīai ॥

रता सचि नामि तल हीअलु सो गुरु परमलु कहीऐ ॥

He is said to be the Guru, with the scent of sandalwood, who is imbued with the True Name to the bottom of His Heart.

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਵਾਸੁ ਬਨਾਸਪਤਿ ਸਉਰੈ ਤਾਸੁ ਚਰਣ ਲਿਵ ਰਹੀਐ ॥੩॥

jā kī vāsu banāspati saurai tāsu charaṇ liv rahīai ॥3॥

जा की वासु बनासपति सउरै तासु चरण लिव रहीऐ ॥३॥

By His Fragrance, the world of vegetation is perfumed. Lovingly focus yourself on His Feet. ||3||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਉਪਜਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਿਵ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥

gurmukhi jīa prān upjahi gurmukhi siv ghari jāīai ॥

गुरमुखि जीअ प्रान उपजहि गुरमुखि सिव घरि जाईऐ ॥

The life of the soul wells up for the Gurmukh; the Gurmukh goes to the House of God.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਜ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੪॥੬॥

gurmukhi nānak sachi samāīai gurmukhi nij padu pāīai ॥4॥6॥

गुरमुखि नानक सचि समाईऐ गुरमुखि निज पदु पाईऐ ॥४॥६॥

The Gurmukh, O Nanak, merges in the True One; the Gurmukh attains the exalted state of the self. ||4||6||
