ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥

Maajh, Third Mehl:

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥

ammrit nāmu manni vasāē ॥

अंम्रित नामु मंनि वसाए ॥

Enshrining the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, in the mind,

ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥

haumai mērā sabhu dukhu gavāē ॥

हउमै मेरा सभु दुखु गवाए ॥

All the pains of egotism, selfishness and conceit are eliminated.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥

ammrit bāṇī sadā salāhē ammriti ammritu pāvṇiā ॥1॥

अंम्रित बाणी सदा सलाहे अंम्रिति अंम्रितु पावणिआ ॥१॥

By continually praising the Ambrosial Bani of the Word, I obtain the Amrit, the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਵਣਿਆ ॥

hau vārī jīu vārī ammrit bāṇī manni vasāvṇiā ॥

हउ वारी जीउ वारी अंम्रित बाणी मंनि वसावणिआ ॥

I am a sacrifice, my soul is a sacrifice, to those who enshrine the Ambrosial Bani of the Word within their minds.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ammrit bāṇī manni vasāē ammritu nāmu dhiāvṇiā ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

अंम्रित बाणी मंनि वसाए अंम्रितु नामु धिआवणिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Enshrining the Ambrosial Bani in their minds, they meditate on the Ambrosial Naam. ||1||Pause||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਸਦਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਵੈਣੀ ॥ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੇਖੈ ਪਰਖੈ ਸਦਾ ਨੈਣੀ ॥

ammritu bōlai sadā mukhi vaiṇī ॥ ammritu vēkhai parkhai sadā naiṇī ॥

अंम्रितु बोलै सदा मुखि वैणी ॥ अंम्रितु वेखै परखै सदा नैणी ॥

Those who continually chant the Ambrosial Words of Nectar see and behold this Amrit everywhere with their eyes.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਥਾ ਕਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਅਵਰਾ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਨਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੨॥

ammrit kathā kahai sadā dinu rātī avarā ākhi sunāvṇiā ॥2॥

अंम्रित कथा कहै सदा दिनु राती अवरा आखि सुनावणिआ ॥२॥

They continually chant the Ambrosial Sermon day and night; chanting it, they cause others to hear it. ||2||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥

ammrit raṅgi ratā liv lāē ॥

अंम्रित रंगि रता लिव लाए ॥

Imbued with the Ambrosial Love of the Lord, they lovingly focus their attention on Him.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪਾਏ ॥

ammritu gur parsādī pāē ॥

अंम्रितु गुर परसादी पाए ॥

By Guru's Grace, they receive this Amrit.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਬੋਲੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੩॥

ammritu rasnā bōlai dinu rātī mani tani ammritu pīāvṇiā ॥3॥

अंम्रितु रसना बोलै दिनु राती मनि तनि अंम्रितु पीआवणिआ ॥३॥

They chant the Ambrosial Name with their tongues day and night; their minds and bodies are satisfied by this Amrit. ||3||

ਸੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਜੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥

sō kichhu karai ju chiti na hōī ॥

सो किछु करै जु चिति न होई ॥

That which God does is beyond anyone's consciousness;

ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮੇਟਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਈ ॥

tis dā hukmu mēṭi na sakai kōī ॥

तिस दा हुकमु मेटि न सकै कोई ॥

No one can erase the Hukam of His Command.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਵਰਤੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੪॥

hukmē vartai ammrit bāṇī hukmē ammritu pīāvṇiā ॥4॥

हुकमे वरतै अंम्रित बाणी हुकमे अंम्रितु पीआवणिआ ॥४॥

By His Command, the Ambrosial Bani of the Word prevails, and by His Command, we drink in the Amrit. ||4||

ਅਜਬ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੇ ॥

ajab kamm kartē hari kērē ॥

अजब कंम करते हरि केरे ॥

The actions of the Creator Lord are marvellous and wonderful.

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਭੂਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਫੇਰੇ ॥

ihu manu bhūlā jāndā phērē ॥

इहु मनु भूला जांदा फेरे ॥

This mind is deluded, and goes around the wheel of reincarnation.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਬਦਿ ਵਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥

ammrit bāṇī siu chitu lāē ammrit sabdi vajāvṇiā ॥5॥

अंम्रित बाणी सिउ चितु लाए अंम्रित सबदि वजावणिआ ॥५॥

Those who focus their consciousness on the Ambrosial Bani of the Word, hear the vibrations of the Ambrosial Word of the Shabad. ||5||

ਖੋਟੇ ਖਰੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥

khōṭē kharē tudhu āpi upāē ॥

खोटे खरे तुधु आपि उपाए ॥

You Yourself created the counterfeit and the genuine.

ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਪਰਖੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਬਾਏ ॥

tudhu āpē parkhē lōk sabāē ॥

तुधु आपे परखे लोक सबाए ॥

You Yourself appraise all people.

ਖਰੇ ਪਰਖਿ ਖਜਾਨੈ ਪਾਇਹਿ ਖੋਟੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੬॥

kharē parkhi khajānai pāihi khōṭē bharmi bhulāvṇiā ॥6॥

खरे परखि खजानै पाइहि खोटे भरमि भुलावणिआ ॥६॥

You appraise the true, and place them in Your Treasury; You consign the false to wander in delusion. ||6||

ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਾ ਕਿਉ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥

kiu kari vēkhā kiu sālāhī ॥

किउ करि वेखा किउ सालाही ॥

How can I behold You? How can I praise You?

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ॥

gur parsādī sabdi salāhī ॥

गुर परसादी सबदि सलाही ॥

By Guru's Grace, I praise You through the Word of the Shabad.

ਤੇਰੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਸੈ ਤੂੰ ਭਾਣੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥

tērē bhāṇē vichi ammritu vasai tūṃ bhāṇai ammritu pīāvṇiā ॥7॥

तेरे भाणे विचि अंम्रितु वसै तूं भाणै अंम्रितु पीआवणिआ ॥७॥

In Your Sweet Will, the Amrit is found; by Your Will, You inspire us to drink in this Amrit. ||7||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਬਦੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

ammrit sabdu ammrit hari bāṇī ॥

अंम्रित सबदु अंम्रित हरि बाणी ॥

The Shabad is Amrit; the Lord's Bani is Amrit.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥

satiguri sēviai ridai samāṇī ॥

सतिगुरि सेविऐ रिदै समाणी ॥

Serving the True Guru, it permeates the heart.

ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੫॥੧੬॥

nānak ammrit nāmu sadā sukhdātā pī ammritu sabh bhukh lahi jāvṇiā ॥8॥15॥16॥

नानक अंम्रित नामु सदा सुखदाता पी अंम्रितु सभ भुख लहि जावणिआ ॥८॥१५॥१६॥

O Nanak, the Ambrosial Naam is forever the Giver of peace; drinking in this Amrit, all hunger is satisfied. ||8||15||16||
