ਅੰਦਰ ਸਭਾ ਦੁਸਾਸਨੈ ਮਥੈ ਵਾਲ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਤੀ ਆਂਦੀ॥

ਅੰਦਰ ਸਭਾ ਦੁਸਾਸਨੈ ਮਥੈ ਵਾਲ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਤੀ ਆਂਦੀ॥

andar sabhā dusāsnai mathai vāl drōptī āndī॥

अंदर सभा दुसासनै मथै वाल द्रोपती आंदी॥

Dragging Daropati by the hair, Dusasanai brought her into the assembly.

ਦੂਤਾਂ ਨੋ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ਨੰਗੀ ਕਰਹੁ ਪੰਚਾਲੀ ਬਾਂਦੀ॥

dūtāṃ nō phurmāiā naṅgī karahu pañchālī bāndī॥

दूतां नो फुरमाइआ नंगी करहु पंचाली बांदी॥

He commanded his men to strip the maidservant Dropati stark naked.

ਪੰਜੇ ਪਾਂਡੋ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਅਉਘਟ ਰੁਧੀ ਨਾਰਿ ਜਿਨਾਂ ਦੀ॥

pañjē pāṇḍō vēkhdē aughaṭ rudhī nāri jināṃ dī॥

पंजे पांडो वेखदे अउघट रुधी नारि जिनां दी॥

All the five Pandavs who she was the wife of, beheld this.

ਅਖੀਂ ਮੀਟ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰ ਹਾਹਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਕਰੇ ਵਿਲਲਾਂਦੀ॥

akhīṃ mīṭ dhiān dhar hāhā krishan karē villāndī॥

अखीं मीट धिआन धर हाहा क्रिशन करे विललांदी॥

Crying, totally dejected and helpless, she closed her eyes. Single-mindedly she invoked Krishna for help.

ਕਪੜ ਕੋਟ ਉਸਾਰਿਓਨ ਥਕੇ ਦੂਤ ਨ ਪਾਰ ਵਸਾਂਦੀ॥

kapaṛ kōṭ usāriōn thakē dūt na pār vasāndī॥

कपड़ कोट उसारिओन थके दूत न पार वसांदी॥

The servants were taking off the clothes from her body but more layers of clothes formed a fort around her; the servants got tired but the layers of clothes were never ending.

ਹਥ ਮਰੋੜਨ ਸਿਰ ਧੁਣਨਿ ਪਛੋਤਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਜਾਹ ਜਾਂਦੀ॥

hath marōṛan sir dhuṇni pachhōtān karan jāh jāndī॥

हथ मरोड़न सिर धुणनि पछोतान करन जाह जांदी॥

The servants were now writhing and frustrated on their abortive attempt and felt that they themselves were ashamed.

ਘਰ ਆਈ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮਿਲੇ ਪੈਜ ਰਹੀ ਬੋਲੇ ਸ਼ਰਮਾਂਦੀ॥

ghar āī ṭhākur milē paij rahī bōlē sharmāndī॥

घर आई ठाकुर मिले पैज रही बोले शरमांदी॥

On reaching home, Dropati was asked by Lord Krishna whether she was saved in the assembly.

ਨਾਥ ਅਨਾਥਾਂ ਬਾਣ ਧੁਰਾਂਦੀ ॥੮॥

nāth anāthāṃ bāṇ dhurāndī ॥8॥

नाथ अनाथां बाण धुरांदी ॥८॥

She shyly replied, “Since perennial times you are living up to your reputation of being father of the fatherless ones.”
