ਅਮਲੁ ਸਿਰਾਨੋ ਲੇਖਾ ਦੇਨਾ ॥

ਸੂਹੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਉ ॥

सूही कबीर जीउ ॥

Soohee, Kabeer Jee:

ਅਮਲੁ ਸਿਰਾਨੋ ਲੇਖਾ ਦੇਨਾ ॥

amlu sirānō lēkhā dēnā ॥

अमलु सिरानो लेखा देना ॥

Your time of service is at its end, and you will have to give your account.

ਆਏ ਕਠਿਨ ਦੂਤ ਜਮ ਲੇਨਾ ॥

āē kaṭhin dūt jam lēnā ॥

आए कठिन दूत जम लेना ॥

The hard-hearted Messenger of Death has come to take you away.

ਕਿਆ ਤੈ ਖਟਿਆ ਕਹਾ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥

kiā tai khaṭiā kahā gavāiā ॥

किआ तै खटिआ कहा गवाइआ ॥

What have you earned, and what have you lost?

ਚਲਹੁ ਸਿਤਾਬ ਦੀਬਾਨਿ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

chalhu sitāb dībāni bulāiā ॥1॥

चलहु सिताब दीबानि बुलाइआ ॥१॥

Come immediately! You are summoned to His Court! ||1||

ਚਲੁ ਦਰਹਾਲੁ ਦੀਵਾਨਿ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ॥

chalu darhālu dīvāni bulāiā ॥

चलु दरहालु दीवानि बुलाइआ ॥

Get going! Come just as you are! You have been summoned to His Court.

ਹਰਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਨੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਕਾ ਆਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

hari phurmānu dargah kā āiā ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

हरि फुरमानु दरगह का आइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

The Order has come from the Court of the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਕਰਉ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਗਾਵ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਾਕੀ ॥

karau ardāsi gāv kichhu bākī ॥

करउ अरदासि गाव किछु बाकी ॥

I pray to the Messenger of Death: please, I still have some outstanding debts to collect in the village.

ਲੇਉ ਨਿਬੇਰਿ ਆਜੁ ਕੀ ਰਾਤੀ ॥

lēu nibēri āju kī rātī ॥

लेउ निबेरि आजु की राती ॥

I will collect them tonight;

ਕਿਛੁ ਭੀ ਖਰਚੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਰਾ ਸਾਰਉ ॥

kichhu bhī kharchu tumārā sārau ॥

किछु भी खरचु तुम्‍ारा सारउ ॥

I will also pay you something for your expenses,

ਸੁਬਹ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਸਰਾਇ ਗੁਜਾਰਉ ॥੨॥

subah nivāj sarāi gujārau ॥2॥

सुबह निवाज सराइ गुजारउ ॥२॥

And I will recite my morning prayers on the way. ||2||

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥ ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਭਾਗਾ ॥

sādhsaṅgi jā kau hari raṅgu lāgā ॥ dhanu dhanu sō janu purkhu sabhāgā ॥

साधसंगि जा कउ हरि रंगु लागा ॥ धनु धनु सो जनु पुरखु सभागा ॥

Blessed, blessed is the most fortunate servant of the Lord, who is imbued with the Lord's Love, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਈਤ ਊਤ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲੇ ॥

īt ūt jan sadā suhēlē ॥

ईत ऊत जन सदा सुहेले ॥

Here and there, the humble servants of the Lord are always happy.

ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਜੀਤਿ ਅਮੋਲੇ ॥੩॥

janmu padārthu jīti amōlē ॥3॥

जनमु पदारथु जीति अमोले ॥३॥

They win the priceless treasure of this human life. ||3||

ਜਾਗਤੁ ਸੋਇਆ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥

jāgtu sōiā janmu gavāiā ॥

जागतु सोइआ जनमु गवाइआ ॥

When he is awake, he is sleeping, and so he loses this life.

ਮਾਲੁ ਧਨੁ ਜੋਰਿਆ ਭਇਆ ਪਰਾਇਆ ॥

mālu dhanu jōriā bhaiā parāiā ॥

मालु धनु जोरिआ भइआ पराइआ ॥

The property and wealth he has accumulated passes on to someone else.

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਤੇਈ ਨਰ ਭੂਲੇ ॥

kahu kabīr tēī nar bhūlē ॥

कहु कबीर तेई नर भूले ॥

Says Kabeer, those people are deluded,

ਖਸਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਮਾਟੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਰੂਲੇ ॥੪॥੩॥

khasmu bisāri māṭī saṅgi rūlē ॥4॥3॥

खसमु बिसारि माटी संगि रूले ॥४॥३॥

Who forget their Lord and Master, and roll in the dust. ||4||3||
