ਆਸਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀਉ ਕੇ ਚਉਪਦੇ ਇਕਤੁਕੇ ॥

āsā srī kabīr jīu kē chaupdē iktukē ॥

आसा स्री कबीर जीउ के चउपदे इकतुके ॥

Aasaa Of Kabeer Jee, Chau-Padas, Ik-Tukas:

ਸਨਕ ਸਨੰਦ ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

sanak sanand antu nahī pāiā ॥

सनक सनंद अंतु नही पाइआ ॥

Sanak and Sanand, the sons of Brahma, could not find the Lord's limits.

ਬੇਦ ਪੜੇ ਪੜਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

bēd paṛē paṛi brahmē janmu gavāiā ॥1॥

बेद पड़े पड़ि ब्रहमे जनमु गवाइआ ॥१॥

Brahma wasted his life away, continually reading the Vedas. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਬਿਲੋਵਨਾ ਬਿਲੋਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥

hari kā bilōvnā bilōvhu mērē bhāī ॥

हरि का बिलोवना बिलोवहु मेरे भाई ॥

Churn the churn of the Lord, O my Siblings of Destiny.

ਸਹਜਿ ਬਿਲੋਵਹੁ ਜੈਸੇ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

sahji bilōvhu jaisē tatu na jāī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

सहजि बिलोवहु जैसे ततु न जाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Churn it steadily, so that the essence, the butter, may not be lost. ||1||Pause||

ਤਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਟੁਕੀ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਬਿਲੋਈ ॥

tanu kari maṭukī man māhi bilōī ॥

तनु करि मटुकी मन माहि बिलोई ॥

Make your body the churning jar, and use the stick of your mind to churn it.

ਇਸੁ ਮਟੁਕੀ ਮਹਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੰਜੋਈ ॥੨॥

isu maṭukī mahi sabdu sañjōī ॥2॥

इसु मटुकी महि सबदु संजोई ॥२॥

Gather the curds of the Word of the Shabad. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਬਿਲੋਵਨਾ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥

hari kā bilōvnā man kā bīchārā ॥

हरि का बिलोवना मन का बीचारा ॥

The churning of the Lord is to reflect upon Him within your mind.

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਾਰਾ ॥੩॥

gur prasādi pāvai ammrit dhārā ॥3॥

गुर प्रसादि पावै अंम्रित धारा ॥३॥

By Guru's Grace, the Ambrosial Nectar flows into us. ||3||

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਮੀਰਾ ॥

kahu kabīr nadri karē jē maṃīrā ॥

कहु कबीर नदरि करे जे मंØीरा ॥

Says Kabeer, if the Lord, our King casts His Glance of Grace,

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਗਿ ਉਤਰੇ ਤੀਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੦॥

rām nām lagi utrē tīrā ॥4॥1॥10॥

राम नाम लगि उतरे तीरा ॥४॥१॥१०॥

One is carried across to the other side, holding fast to the Lord's Name. ||4||1||10||
